I recently purchased the Porter Cable 7424 Pinnacle Twin bundle as shown here:

Pinnacle polishes, pinnacle swirl remover, porter cable swirl remover, porter cable kit

The kit contains the Dual Action 5 Inch HD Hook & Loop Backing Plate, along with two 6.5 inch pads. I was doing some research on the forums and it seems the opinion is 5.5 inch pads are the way to go based on that 5 inch backing plate. Essentially me question/concern is that accurate and will I have any issue fitting a 5.5 inch pad to the 5 inch HD backing plate?

Why do they include such oversized pads to a 5 inch backing plate?

I also would like to purchase some 4 inch pads for the tight areas, any recommendation on the forum recommended backing plate?

Thanks!

I don't know why they put the lager pads in the kit thats better off for Meghan or Nick to answer.

You will be better off with the 5.5" pads with that PC.

As for the 4" pads you will need a 3.5" BP :
3.5" Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate- porter cable 7424XP hook and loop backing plate 3.5 inch.

And for pads the LC hydrotech seem to be a good choice. I just got the 6.5" once and I like them

Lake Country Hydro-Tech 4 x 1.25 Inch Foam Pads, Hydro Tech Foam Buffing Pads, spot polishing pads, pads for water based polishes

^^ What he said...

In order to buy smaller pads you will need the smaller BP or you will have a higher chance of damaging your paint if you move the Porter Cable in a weird direction.

I've been good so far with the "stock" equipment it comes with, so unless you are working with curvy exteriors, i wouldn't worry about getting all sorts of sizes. 2 various ones will be just fine.

BTW, Pinnacle products are awesome!

Thanks for the feedback I am going to purchase them this weekend with the 15% off. I had nothing but success and great luck with both the Pinnacle and Wolfgang line. Excellent products.

Thanks for being the first to respond on two of my questions. Without questions this is the best/friendliest forum I have ever used.
