Concerning the Rupes 15 with the 5" BP.

Rupes LHR 15ES Big Foot Random Orbital Polisher, rupes bigfoot, rupes car polisher

I'll be using mainly m105/205, HD Speed, Ultimate Compound/Polish, DG501/105.

I see the Hydrotech pads say they are for water-based formulas and I'm not really sure about what these products are. Will these Hydrotech pads give me results that won't be the greatest or cause pad failure if I use other than water-based formulas?

Lake Country Hydro-Tech 5 1/2 x 7/8 Inch Foam Pads 3 Pack - Your Choice!

I was looking at getting 2 of each color to use with a Rupes 15 5" plate, so the 5.5" pads.

Or 2 each of these in orange white and black?
Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Pads 6 Pack, foam pad kit, build a kit, buffing pads, curved edge pads

I'm seeing that the CCS pads don't have as much surface area so they aren't the quickest in correction?

I'd appreciate any feedback about this pad choice and whether or not this will be a good idea to use on the Rupes 15 in general as well!

Marc

I would go MF pads for cutting and foam for polishing and finishing.

The LC HT Tangerine and Crimson work great on the Rupes.

Why not get the Rupes pads? They are really nice and well made. Plus. They have. 6" face, so you can conquer more space.

One the other hand, I'm sure the M polishes would work fine with HT pads.

I'm really considering the HT pads, how do they compare though to the LC CCS orange white and gray/black?

The LC HT Tangerine and Crimson work great on the Rupes.

The H2O pads tend to tear on the raised back side of the pad. Do you find that the Rupes, because of the bigger throw will tend to weaken the pad more than a regular LC pad?Feed back please

For foam pads the LC Hydros work great. I have been using the BnS with no issues either

For Microfibers the Meg's are the best then close behind the the BnS.

I done have some of the Rupes pads which of course work great as well

Ron, yes I do notice that. The Rupes Velcro bites into edges of the pad more than a Flex and traditional DAs.

The Rupes absolutely demolishes the LC HT Cyan pad. The Cyan always had "chunking" issues that are really amplified with the Rupes big throw.

Otherwise, the Crimson and Tangerine have decent durability. I also think the Velcro on the Rupes blue backing is way too strong.

Rupes makes a grey backing plate with less hold than can reduce wear/damage on pads.

Megs mf for cutting
And b n s for pokishing/finishing 5.5 pads.
The hydros 7/8 thick I like on a rotary I haven't tried on a da yet

The rupes + mf pads is an awesome combo to cut. Finish with foam.
