Pad size question

I recently purchased a HF DA polisher. I am replacing the backer plate with a chemical guys 5 inch backer plate. What size pads do I buy? In researching I have seen mention of anything from 5 inch pads up to 6.5 inch pads. What size is the best..tia

With my 5 inch backing plate I use 5.5 inch pads. If for some reason I use 6.5 inch pads a switch to a 6 inch backing plate.

Don't buy 6.5 inch pads. They're too large and heavy for the machine to effectively use them .

On a related topic, for a rotary with Lake country four and three quarter inch backing plate, is a 6.5 inch pad a good idea or should I stick to 5.5 inch ones?

Solely with the intent of covering more area. Nothing else
