Pads failing too quickly...

No I do not. Because there is still product in the pad when I am done. When I clean on the fly I am mainly just removing the buildup of product on the top layer. I use an air compressor to clean on the fly.

Ben...you do this with pads on a rotary? Reason I ask is I'm trying to figure out how to clean pads on the fly when I start using the Flex.

The pads are not failing by looking at the pictures. There is foam on the bottom of the loop, plus ends look like they are curving up. That looks like a pressure issue.

It makes sense...

Yep, same process.

I only use a rotary every once in a while though, so I'm far from a pro on proper rotary use.

I use the DP pad rejuvenator first to loose and remove most of the stuff, then I put them in the washing machine with some fabric detergent.

I would avoid using the washing machine for cleaning pads. Soak the pads in a 5 gallon wash bucket with the pad rejuvenator. I would not recommend using fabric detergent or fabric softner on the foam pads. Only use the pad rejuvenator when cleaning foam pads.

Got it! Thinking better about it... yeah... it seems overkill and unnecessary....

I would swich out the pads more often and lighten up on the pressure. I always use at least 3 pads per step. Always clean the foam pads with a foam pad cleaner in between uses.

Just to add to the fun. I got a brand new Griots ROP and some CCS pads for xmas. I finally got a chance to test them this weekend and I do think I was using a bit too much pressure.

Maybe if the backing material extended to the edges there would be more protection but I can't rule out user error. The perfect groove is slightly entertaining though. My white and black pads fared much better so I am sure it was mostly my fault. On one of my orange pads the backing material is actually a smaller circle than the 5 in backing plate but the others matched up well.

Welcome to the club!

Yeah.... I guess we're better start taking easy with these pads when using GG ROP. :buffing:
