I have a DeWalt DWP849X and the Edge 2000 convoluted double-sided pads and the Edge wool pads. I find the large size of the pads (8") tough to use in certain areas. What other pads can I use with this rotary polisher? I'd like to try 4" to 6" foam pads. Thanks.

Sure, you need 3" plate for 4" pads and 5" plate for 6" pads.

It's much easier to control rotary with smaller pads like you wouldn't believe it.

So is it safe to use any foam pad on a rotary as long as I use the correct backing plate? I noticed some pads listed on AG are "DA only". Is there really a difference? Feed back please

Yea there is a difference and it is in the threads. Rotary polishers generally have a threaded spindle while DA polishers are the opposite.

There are some DA dedicated pads such as megs MF or Surbuf with Microfingers technology, but other then that you can use any foam pads on your rotary.

That's how I felt yesterday, kept getting interrupted. Finally called Optimum. Dr. G answered not only the phone, but also, all of my questions.
Multiple bp and pad sizes are the norm if you detail differing vehicle/panel sizes.
