Pads gumming up

everytime i use my PC it seems that my pads absorb most of the polish. the center of the pad gets so caked with it that theres no texture left, its all polish. am i using too much polish? ive been using a dime sized amount at 12 3 6 9 positions. pressing too hard or not hard enough? just trying to figure out what im doing wrong, thanks in advance for any advice.

Try putting more pressure, and it sounds like you have too much product on it. I could be wrong - but my son and I seem to agree. I am fairly new to it myself, so, let's see what the pros here think.
Are you spreading it on before you break it down, like in the video? I was assuming you were.
 
sounds like you may be putting too much product on. spread evenly first. then work in with pressure harder to lower, depending on the abrasiveness of the polish from more to less.

Way to much product .... think around 3 small lines across the pad diagonally. If you still have problems, consider the Edge pads as you can flip them mid work and use the other side also.

Wouldn't you be slinging product from the used side once you flip the pad?
 
1) what polish did you use
2) where do you reside and what are the weather conditions?
3)What type of pad and colour?

4)after applying the polish did you use the pad with the PC of to massage the polish into the paint..turn your PC to speed 1-2 until you work the polish into the paint then kick it up until the polish breaks down..looks transparent..you can also spritz the pad with a QD before hand ..also before the pad cakes up use a nylon brush to remove the polish or rerinse the pads with warm and a APC then spin the pad dry before you reuse it..

I use three lines on the pads and that would be more the a dimes worth of product..
 
Using the Optimum line I found it worked pretty well putting about four pea sized dots on the perimeter of the pad. I feel it's less likely to just cake in the center if I put it on the outside of the pad. I also got caking in the center, but it was after I was at least half done with the car. From what I've read it's normal to get a little bit.
 
That is a lot of polish. Definitely stick with the small lines across the pad. If it still gums up, run the polisher (not on the paint) and use something stiff to brush up against the pad while on. This will remove a lot of junk.

I had to reread his post..I see the poster is using a dime size amount through out the pad..I agree at that amount he could do an entire hood rather then a small area.
