Quick question about my polishing pads. I polished my car a week ago. After I was done with each pad I put them in my bucket with cg pad cleaner to soak until I was able to rinse them. My wife wanted to go to the cheesecake factory when I got done so needless to say I forgot about the pads. It has been a week, just now remembered, too late to mess with tonight. Will they be ok soaking that long?

I would imagine they'd just be really clean. I don't think it would be harsh enough to "dissolve" the pads.

They might be alright. I would inspect them carefully after they dry out. It's possible the backing material may easily pull away from the foam from being soaked so long.

Rinse them and let the pads air dry with the velcro side up to let gravity draw water downwards from the pores of the pad, instead of letting moisture get trapped between the adhesive and velcro side facing down. Afterwards check for any signs of delamination.

That's a great question! I'm guessing they will be okay. However this is your chance to experiment, as others have said rinse them and let them dry and most important, report back here to let us know the results!

I actually just did the same thing. I had a few pads in a bucket with CG citrus wash and a little grime reaper for about 4 days. Pads came out spotless after I rinsed them out. You should be fine.

I've done it intentionally in a mixture of snappy, apc, and dawn.
I haven't seen any issues with the backing. They're not frequently used though.

I think they would be alright. Like others have said, I'd check the backing closely.

only thing is the glue on the inside to hold the velcro on may get lose and come off the pad faster when buffing.just depends on what they where in/ in the water

There are always the prospect of corners being cut (like in the type of "Velcro-like" Hook&Loop systems used);
and, though the adhesives and even the foam, itself, used for buffing pads has seen improvements over the years:

I always preferred to follow the recommendation to not wash pads
that was once promulgated by companies such as Meguiar's.

These un-washed, (yet still cleaned), pads': Foam, Velcro, and Adhesive components...
tended to last longer, IMO; and with seldom, if any, mention of:
"separation/delamination and or deterioration".

But to keep up with Customers' interest/(IMO: also market share) in:
Washing pads to clean them (instead of non-wetting methods);
and: For better and/or For worse:
Along came the "washable" Soft Buff 2.0, and the "washable" WXX07 series.

I also think about:
Without incorporating a detergent/water washing method for buffing pads...
What would have been the fate for the high-dollar mechanical pad washers?

Anyway:
Hope your pads have not undergone any undue soaking stress factors.

:)

I have let my bucket of used pads sit for up to 3 weeks sometimes. I take them from the bucket rite into the washing machine , quick fluff dry cycle, then let air dry face down overnight. Have had zero problems with pad breaking down or delaminating. (LC CCS, HT, LC Flat, B&S, CG hex, Griots)
