Greetings to All,
Haven't posted in a while, and since we are shut down today here at the car wash in South Louisiana due to weather, I thought I'd take the time to share a few pictures, although not the best, on a job we recently completed.
The customer spent a lot of money having his race car/ daily driver coated with 22PLE. He could not leave the car with detailer for the full cure time, and decided to pick up and go. Trouble came when, true to form for Louisiana weather, he ran into a tremendous rain storm on the way home. Fast forward just a few months later and the car has a light almost-haze to it, light swirls and scratches, water marks, but still exhibiting some hydrophobicity. Definitely not the 22PLE shine and gloss. The customer came to us and asked if we could fix the finish for him.
We approached this with the knowledge of the previous detailer applying two coats of 22PLE, so we decided we were going to try correcting the coating, and not dive deeper to reach the clear coat and completely remove the coating he paid big bucks for.
The results were amazing!! I was able to remove the surface imperfections and restore the deep shine and gloss of the coating! We topped it off with a layer of Pinnacle Souveran, and brought back the "wow!" factor. Super-slick, and super shiny!!
Customer was very happy. His car looked great again, and super excited he could still enjoy the money spent on his coating! Another success story for Team Safari!!
Photos: from left to right. Apologies for the photo upload, couldn't figure out how to rotate.
Pics 1 and 2, left side of vehicle show dull lifeless reflection, hazed, water marks, etc.
Pics 3, 4, 5 and 6, hood and driver side, you can really see the coating coming back to life.
Pic 7, delivery time!
Pic 8, selfless promo shot of 75ft high Safari Car Wash sign in the reflection of the hood!!!
Hope you enjoy...Until next time... you gotta Keep on Shining!!

I am curious how you removed the defects without removing the coating. How did you determine that the coating is still intact?

LOL Exactly!! Thanks for the comments, though. The entire front of the car had chips from rocks from racing the car. Problem was the finish was so deep and rich, the rock chips stood out like white paint on the hood!!

We knew the car had two coatings applied. With 22PLe being as durable as it is, as well knowing it sits on top of the clear coat, we thoroughly washed the car, and it was still exhibiting hydrophobicity. The swirls and scratches seemed to be in the coating, So that's how we approached it. Very gently. Very light work, and with each pass I could see the car getting shinier and shinier, It was very cool to watch, like we were unwrapping the shine!!
