First of all, thanks to Eric (Howareb) for helping me out with the class and allowing the use of his BEAUTIFUL shop. We had a great turnout and everyone was able to get hands on and learn a few things. We had some great food and got to meet some great people. Thanks to everyone who attended.

Secondly, I would like to thanks the sponsors of the class who sent out supplies for us to play with during the demonstrations and then at the end of the class, I raffled the supplies off to make sure no one left empty handed. Without our sponsors, this is not possible. So I truly mean it, THANK YOU!!!

The sponsors are as followed.

Megan @ AutoGeek

George @ Detailedimage

Phil @ Detailersdomain

Kevin @ Kleen Car

DaveB @ High Definition

Note: The clock in the backround, it's nearly 4am and Eric and I were still up from 8am the previous morning. We cleaned the shop, got everything set up and ready for the class that was taking place in 7 hours. With some music jammin, and jokes that weren't funny (although when your that tired, they are hilarious) the time went by and I would do it again if I could.

One of our guest, Tom agreed to use his car for the test vehicle. Thanks again buddy!! Before we got started Eric and I were taking turns giving classroom style instructions on proper techniques and products. Then we took a short break, had lunch then got to work.

We gave Tom, the car owner the first crack at machine polishing.

I was unable to make most the pictures since I was the one snapping the pics but we had a great time!!

Thanks,
DJ Mayo

I must say that was a fun day. Thanks to DJ and Eric for holding that fun class and to AG for supplying alot of the goodies given out.

Somewhere in Northern VA? I'd love to be on the "do again" list!

As would I. John (VR8) and I could ride up from here to the next class. Mark us down if/when you do it again Asphalt! ;) Looked like a ton of fun and that table of product was pretty insane! The car looks really good. Glad to see more people learning how to "properly" take care of their cars.

Oh, and I"m hoping to have my car painted soon. I'm purposely having the painter put a couple of extra coats of clear on it so I can mess it up and fix it for potential customers, so if it's done by the time your next class starts, you can use my car as the test subject. :D

I am thinking about having one at my house, not sure when though.

I'd be more than happy to help coordinate something. Maybe with the winter months rolling in we could coax one of the AG staff to fly up for a day or two and join us. Picking a central location and inviting detailers from all over VA would be awesome. Even if a small tuition fee were attached.

in case you guys didn't notice, there was a young female in attendance who wanted to learn to take care of her car, impressive.

Great time DJ and Eric, thanks. AKA Cleaning Fool

I'd love to see Dana teaching a class!

How far would it be from Stuart, Florida?

:dblthumb2:
Dana did teach a small portion. He was asked to expound on wool pads and how to use them properly. Even showed us how to use a screwdriver to clean the pad! Good times aka Cleaning Fool

Screwdriver and wool pad is old school cleaning, much more effective and safer ways out now. I'll be holding another in the spring time.

Lots of guys use screwdrivers and if that's all you have then that's what you use to remove some of the built-up gunk off the pad, a combination of a pad cleaner and steel spur a better job and my guess is do less damage to the pad than a screwdriver.

Still, one thing I learned back when I first started calling on body shops in the late 1980's was to always be open to learning something new and you can usually a trick or technique from anyone that's been buffing out cars for years and years either in the refinishing industry or the detailing industry and I'm positive Dana could show us a few trick and techniques to make the job faster and better and probably both.

that`would`be`killer! Im the MAN

It would be alot of fun. Can you imagine the two of us teaching a class.

That would be cool if you came up Mike, I would suggest getting in touch with Adam also, he wants to come up here too. If you drive about 16 hours, flying I believe it is 2-3 if I remember correctly. Mike just be prepared for some crazy stuff.:dblthumb2:

I don't know if I would go that far, those spurs just don't remove all the polish like using a screw driver like I showed you guys. I have the old steel ones and the platic one you had DJ. Hey, if you are happy with you method thats all that counts. About what time in the Spring DJ?

I actually like throwing my wool pads in the washer then letting them air dry and then before I actually use the pad, I spin at 3000k for 30seconds or so.

I'm not sure on the class. Maybe in the late March / Early April. Once winter is fully gone. I have a Miami trip earlier in March so anytime after that I'll be ready to rock.

I knew Fred would chime in ... So here's the list so far.

1) John (VR8)
2) Adam (adrock2003)
3) Fred (Fred114)
4)

... next?

:)
