How reliable is a reasonably priced paint thickness guage? I'm a hobbyist and would want one just for curiosity about my car

I've never heard anyone complain about a Highline or one of the other ones that looks like that.

Go to you favorite auction site and search CM8801F about $100. There is an extensive thread on it in this forum. Very reliable.
