Paint thinner smell in carpet

So I'm dealing with a spill... she says it was either paint thinner or mineral spirits. It's been cleaned, but the smell is lingering about a week afterwards. Any pointers on what to try using to get the smell out? Is there anything I definitely shouldn't use, for fear of some kind of reaction with the chemicals?
