Hello Everyone!

I am a failry new Part-Time Detailer who works in the Refinishing Dept in a body shop during the day. I live in an apartment so my boss is nice enough to allow me 1 work bay for me to use after work hours to do detailing work and can stay there overnight. However, that car must be moved back outside during work hours.

This limited time window makes it difficult to schedule and/or complete extensive paint correcting jobs in a timely manner and/or same day. That being said I believe performing a One-Step Polish with an AIO should be my "main flavor". My personal problem with an AIO is I am reading that durability, without topping, is not the greatest and I wouldn't feel comfortable advertising a 4+mo protection claim. (I currently have, DG 101, Poli-Seal, and lots of GG One-Step Sealant)

I have also thought about using a polish that would have a great cutting and finishing ability, then following up with a dedicated LSP for longer durability. I have the Rupes Line-up along with CG Jetseal, DG 111, and GG BOS Paste Wax.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products or maybe even some scheduling tips? I have been interested in getting McKee's 37 360 AIO as it firmly claims at least 6 months and using GG Orange Pads, Rupes Yellow, or B&S Maroon Pads as my main weapons.

Thank you!

2 amazing combos that would work well in your situation:

HD Speed. Top with Optimum Car Wax. Easily 4 months protection.

CarPro Essence. Top with Reload. You need to work Essence a bit more than Speed however. A year protection, but beading would be there around 6 months.

Both will yield absolutely amazing results.

Whats great about both these combos is that the topper on each takes literally 10 minutes to apply.

I'd also recommend either HD Speed or Griots Boss line up of creams.
And coll 845 topped with it should last at least 4 months no problem..

HD Speed topped with either Collinite 845, HD Poxy, or Pinnacle Signature Series II paste wax

360 on a CCS orange pad with a porter cable DA does ok getting rid of some swirls but it takes some work. I've used it 3 times on 3 different vehicles now and I would say I've had 4-5 months out of it.

When I use up my current batch I'll be giving HD speed/poxy a try.

I have a local detailer as well who loves using HD Speed, I was seriously considering that as well. Do you all still recommend waiting 12 hours before applying 845 or other topper? What exactly happens if I apply before the "cure time"? Does it compromise the AIO? Or does the topper not bond to the surface as well and compromise durability?

I guess what I could do is apply the AIO or Polish and try to get to the shop early the next morning and apply the topper if the customer is willing to wait until the next day for pick up.

Another question, what pad do you recommend for HD Speed? I have a Rupes 21 MkII so I'd need a large throw pad.

I use (and like) the following
AIOs quite a lot:

Meguiar's M20; Finish Kare's 215;
and Klasse AIO
---all can remove
light defects---and these products'
formulations contain "Sealant ingre-
dients" that last a long time.

How long do you feel the Poli-Seal lasts?

I've gotten many months out of it by itself, and that is one of the reasons I haven't tried speed yet. I don't want to have to top it to feel that it has good protection.

Im a Speed and 360 fan. Havent used the new McKees 360 but if its anything like its original formula XMT360 it should be fine.

I also like the HD Speed + HD Poxy combo. I am dying to try the new 3D offering 505 when that is available. The description of "HD Speed 'on steroids' " has me salivating as i LOVE HD Speed as an AIO.

I topped it within a few hours...but that had nothing to do with cure time...that had more to do with 'recovery' time for me....I had no issues

Maybe, you could put some HD Cut into the Speed...?

^^ this. I like HD Speed and love the each of use. I advertise it as season long protection which I have seen as fairly true in all but winter. There and for other needs I top it with Collinite 476.

Essence is awesome too and my go-to for base before McKee's Paint Coating. Haven't used it yet with Reload as I have to get over issues with Reload from the past. I may try it again soon as I half a bottle left.

Doing so would likely 100% negate the sealant in HD Speed which is Poxy. Just my gut as I can't see an abrasive like that not removing the sealant if it wasn't initially designed to be combined.

I have two AIO packages:

HD Speed w/ no topper. When long term protection doesn't matter, like when the vehicle is being sold.

CarPro Essence topped w/ Essence Plus. When the client is keeping the vehicle but doesn't want to spend the money on a full ceramic coating treatment.

^^ why not just top it with McKee's 37? It's cheap, effective, lasts and offers all the benefits. It's fast become my go-to offering and differentiation piece for me. I offer an AIO, perhaps top it with Collinte 476 - great for single stage paints and then McKee's. Makes for a perfectly fast application for me too.
