Part-Time Detailers, how do you do it!?

I'm in the same boat as Richy, Rasky, and Zach.......I detail for stress relief and I love it! 3-5 vehicles a month tops . My day job keeps me on the road most of the time during the
week so balancing family and play time can get difficult.

It's all about the passion, you will find a way to make it work.

My day job is high paced and high stressed. Our biggest client always requests me for their on-site rep and that keeps me on the road and out of town during the week,so my family time is limited as is my detailing.

I try to squeeze in some range time when I can( Uber stress relief) in between details and home chores......

If your passionate about anything you do you will find a way to balance your time to accomplish your goals.

If I'm doing a car at home it's on the weekend. I spend both days as not to rush the job and I find the results are much better. I like when they can drop it off on Friday night and then I get it washed and wheels and wheel barrels cleaned and degrease and dress the engine compartment. I also have been doing the personal cars for a friend with a body shop since December but will go there for a couple of hours after my day job. These are all classic and show cars so correction is the norm on these. I have a beautiful facility to work in with heated floors and no air movement so I can go back after a week and the car looks the same as when I left off. Will be doing his McLaren next week.

A lot of you guys have some great ideas as far as setting up your own workshop for detailing but unfortunately I don't have that option. I am strictly mobile with the option of renting shop space for clients that also don't have that option. At least that's how I used to do it but now I feel like I am starting all over essentially. Good news is I have all the materials I need I just need to build up my clientele, but seeing as my limitation to 1-2 cars per week it might not be that bad. I'm also in a new area so not too sure what to expect there.

I started by posting on my HOA Facebook page, next I posted on a community garage sale page. I have a garage at my house, I have to pull my cars out to work on someone else's, it isn't a dedicated detail space.

I use weeknights to do just exterior wash, Decon & seal or interior cleaning. Weekends are dedicated to paint correction and bigger jobs. If someone wants both interior and exterior it's either 2 nights or a weekend. I keep 1 weekend per month for family.

Thank for the input everyone! Also coopers st what is a HOA Facebook page? Hopefully it's not that silly of a question.
