Paste wax over liquid wax??

I am curious if I would gain any durability of wax if I applied Megs liquid yellow wax 26 then applied megs nxt 2.0 paste over the top of it? Would this work or would one cause the other not to bond correctly?
 
As a general rule you would want carnauba over a synthetic. I know the nxt 2.0 is synthetic for sure. Nothing says you cannot try as the worst case is you wax again a few months later.
 
If you have both, I would do the NXT first and then the M26 on top of it. I am not sure you will gain anything in durability, but the M26 might offer a little more depth. You might just want to skip NXT and go with M26 straight. Either way, these products are both so easy on and off, and smell good enough that having to do a coat once every few months is not a big deal.
 
Meguiar’s does not recommend layering NXT Tech Wax 2.0 over another sealant or wax. It has slight cleaning properties.

Meguiar's has said that Meg's #26 (paste or liquid) is considered a hybrid, containing a combination of both natural and synthetic ingredients, with no cleaning abilities.

I dont think NXT 2.0 has any cleaning properties.

Mike Stoops has said this so many times over on MOL.

NXT and M21 are not cleaner/waxes, a cleaner/wax is a wax formulated to remove a wide range of paint defects, swirls, scratches, oxidation, stains, etchings, etc. NXT and M21 are not formulated for or intended to be used this way.

Looks like we are in disagreement then...I think NXT 2.0 does have cleaning abilities.

As Mr. Stoops stated in the MOL thread you referrenced:

'We classify NXT Tech Wax 2.0 as a polish wax, not a cleaner wax."


Evidently, my viewpoint/understanding of a polish-wax's definition, (as well as that of a cleaner-wax), may vary somewhat from yours, and perhaps others, as well.

NOTE: Perhaps AG could re-visit their NXT 2.0's product description page, for the purpose of clarafication of this matter??

what is something that u like it and u use it often?
 
I think in concept this thread is interesting. The real question is can you expand the durability of a wax by layering. Thoughts?

The product description of the NXT liquid 2.0 states that it does have cleaning properties to it.It's really a great product for a descent price that I would apply before a carnuba wax.I prefer the Ultimate line top to bottom though.

I have something written on this that's still accurate today on MOL in the Hot Topics forum.

What's the deal with "Layering?"


This was written in 2004 and the biggest thing to come onto the market since then are coatings.

3-Categories: Waxes, Paint Sealants and Coatings



Instead of trying to create a thicker layer of wax or paint sealant, it's probably better to just replenish what's left with a fresh coat on a regular maintenance schedule.

With coatings like Opti-Coat II, they are permanent unless you abrade it off so once you have a layer on the paint you shouldn't need to create a thicker layer.
