Ok....so here's the story.

Several months ago, our shop had a customer come in. (I work
as an auto technician). His car just died while driving. He gets it up to the shop, I start taking a look at it...BAM ! Timing belt broke. More than likely, the engine is done for, as its an Interference design. We gve him his options, he says the hell with it. And left it up at our shop for another 2 months.

One day, out of the blue, he comes up to me, and asked if I wanted to buy it. He says $300, because the junk yard would only give him $200. I didn't have the money right then and there, and payday was another 10 days away. I call my brother, and fill him in. No problem, he says. Sends the money to my account. I run over to the bank, get the money, guy signs title over, gives me keys, and takes off. I take car home on Dolly, push it into garage. Then I get to work on it. Everyday. After working on cars all day, I still had one to fix. For 3 weeks. Straight.

Finally got it running, cleaned, detailed, waxed, and a FOR SALE sing on it. I sold it today. I called my brother, asked him for his account # so I could pay him back. He says no...keep it. Glad I could help you out.

Reminds me of that song from the Hollies...."he ain't heavy, he's my brother."

So, a few weeks ago, my brother just got a new 2014 Audi a4 in black.

I want to repay him with some good waxes and stuff for the car that will help keep it looking nice. Since he's not going to be polishing it with a DA, we can leave pads and stuff of that nature out of the picture.

What do you suggest? What would YOU put on your new 45k car?

I'm really looking forward to sending him a "care package" , as they say in Call of Duty.

Thanks guys.

Well for around $208 plus shipping you could send him this. Great stuff.

Meguiars Detailer’s Essentials Kit

Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid wax, heat-resistant wax, car wax

SON1C Wax Carnaubavore

Under the category of stuff, I would get him a bottle of Iron-X, because even though it is a new car, it will likely have some contaminants on the surface that will need to be removed before waxing can take place. I would also get him a Nanoskin sponge, towel, or mitt, and some clay lube/spray detailer.

Oh I can't believe I forgot a copy of Mike Phillips book. So he knows the right way to use what you send him.

Mike Phillips’ The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine Paperback Book

I second the iron x and clay (or nanoskin towel). I need a nanoskin towel too. Hint hint. Lol

He spent $45,000 on a Jetta with Audi badges? :(

In that case, paying him back with some DoDo Juice wax, or a detailing kit like Wolfgang or Pinnacle should be good enough.

Get him the Total Exterior and Interior Kit by Blackfire...it is a perfect kit! I use it on my brothers black Jetta all the time.

I also give gifts of detailing and repayments by detailing....my family loves it, plus if I owe someone $75 bucks, I usually detail their car completely which would run $300+ at places around here...so it works out for everyone.

You have a good brother.
My brother would have been on my tail for me to pay back.
I guess all would depend on if he is a "detailer" or not. My brother would not be able to appreciate something like BF Black Ice.... He would have been equally happy with Turtlewax Ice instead!

As a testiment to my brother, he's also a auto tech for Ford. He takes care of his stuff, just like I do. When we were kids, we used to beat the hell outta eachother, snitch to our parents about what the other was doing, and sabbatoge eachothers belongings.

Like we say now, We just raised good hell with eachother.

As for how he takes care of his car...well, let me tell you a little story.

several years ago, he boought a Snapper Lawn Mower. When he got it, he took the engine off, and the drive belt. Stripped it down til just the metal part, and had the body shop at work put a few layers of clear coat on it...on both sides. "why the hell would you do that?", i asked. "Makes it easier to clean the grass off the bottom side, and so i can wax it, but mostly because I CAN."

His lawn mower is now 8 years old, but looks brand new. He's a firm believer of the clay bar, and maintaines his stuff like it's the last one ever made. So, while I have no doubt that he'll keep his new car looking like a new car for years, Getting him a quality wax that he would otherwise not buy is my way of saying thanks for being a bro.

Looks like i'm gonna get him some Pinnacle Souveran with some nice Microfiber water towels, and a Micerfiber interior wand, some tire dressing, and a few other odds and ends.

LMAO!! So true a VW with Audi badges!! LOL I am just curious...I assume he lives far away. If not maybe you could detail his car as I think you mentioned he doesn't do that.

You getting him that kit will just collect dust. I know as I have bought a couple of kits for my friends and it just collects dust.

You have a cool bro!! If he does live close to you; detailing his car would be priceless and you can save some $$.

:dblthumb2:

People should stop trolling this post. It will lead to nothing good. Go to vw forum and talk there about it. Back to topic, I would offer to polish and do something like opti coat on his car.

I'm in Houston, he's in Des Moines. Thats a long drive for a detail. And i doubt he'd let me touch it.

CG Celleste Detaglio is really good or CG 50/50

If he already has all his maintenance products, why not go all out on the new synergy kit or Blackfire blackice they both fall right into the price range.
