Does anyone know of a chart or reference guide that gives what RPM's equate to what speeds on the Porter Cable??
Thanks!

Speed 1-2 Wax
Speed 3-4 Spread polish / Work in light finishing polish
Speed 5 Compound / Polish
Speed 6 I don't use much, but used for heavy removal.

Because the Porter Cable is a random orbital machine, the speed is measured in orbits per minute (OPM). Settings 1 through 6 represent 1,000 - 6,000 OPM's if I am not mistaken.

RPM ratings for a rotary are not the same as OPM's on a Porter Cable.

I always use any mild or heavy abrasive on speed 6. For finishing polishes or paint cleaners, speed 5. Waxes/sealants, speed 3-4.

The reason I was asking is because Optimum suggests 1,000 - 1,400 RPM's for their Optimum Finish Polish. I was just wondering what this equates to on the PC. I'll probably go with a speed of about 5.
