I decided on the xp and want to buy here at ag, but don't know what package to get. I know now to get the 5" backer but can't decide on a starter brand. I have 3 newer vehicles with no major issues except serious water spots on the windows and paint. What kit would you recommend?

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!

This is a great kit that will get you well on your way. Menzerna products are my favorite but if you decide to order this give Autogeek a call and substitute 5 1/2 inch flat pads for the 6 1/2 CCS pads. Be sure they change out the blacking plate too.

save your money and get a flex. pc is ok but takes way to long to do the job and not as good as a flex

Get the PC & the Megs DA MF System. It comes with the Megs 5" BP that the MF pads were designed to work with! BTEW the GG has more power and a better warranty too FWIW.

BobbyG's recommend is very good. I went the non-kit route because I couldn't find a kit with the exact components I wanted. If I was gonna do it all over again, I'd buy fewer pads. I found you can use Mike P's clean-on-the-fly technique to keep a single pad clean enough to do each step on a small to medium sized car (Saturn Ion to RAV4 size). I would buy:

1. PC

2. Menz Polishes or, my fav, Wolfgang "Trio" - Total Swirl Remover, Finishing Glaze and Paintwork Polish Enhancer along with Menz Powerlock sealant - the Menz PL comes with a red pad and a mf buffing cloth.

3. 1 LC 5.5 Flat Pad 6 Pak - 2 Orange, 2 White, 1 Grey, 1 Blue - orange for the TSR, white for FG, grey for the WG PPE and blue for wax topping over the sealant ( I use Collinite 845 on the recommend of Bobby and many, many others here).

I like the WG/ Menz line because it is as simple and easy to use as many of the posts here say. It's a bit more expensive, but I'll take that for ease of use. How easy? Took me half a car to figure it out, and I'd never done this before. CAVEAT: I am an ex industrial process engineer so I have run a lot of industrial equip. Still, it was very easy.

You can also buy a 3.5" backing plate and some 4" pads for tighter spots. That's optional. If very careful, you can get most areas with the 5.5" pads. The few areas I couldn't get I've done mostly by hand.

dont buy a kit, i bought the pcxp, 6 of the 5.5 inch flat pads (orange, white, gray), menz power finish 32 oz, menz super intensive polish 32 oz, menzerna nano super finish 32 oz, 5 inch backing plate

This is another excellent option. The MF System wasn;t out when I bought my stuff. I'd probably give it serious consideration today. The only thing that would hold me back is that the last step with the Megs system is a wax. I want a sealant before wax so I'd have to mod the system or perform a couple extra steps. Still, worth consideration.

The Griot's DA is said to have more power. However, as Mike Phillips notes, the PC has a better build quality. So, the decision is what do you prefer - build quality or power. I prefer build quality. I found the PC to have more than adequate power for the purpose.

But you're a Flex guy aren't you? My understanding is it does not work nearly as well with the Flex. Do you have a PC or GG?

you could always buy the Megs system and use something like DP Poli-Coat on the Megs finishing disc. I have got great results with that combo.

Yeah, I guess I could. The prob I have with that is spending another 100 bucks or so for the Megs and DP when I already have a the LC pads and WG I got on BOGO. That combo works so well I just can't justify spending the extra bucks. Maybe when I run out....

OTOH the GG has the superior warranty. Dewayne made the replacement process painless and it was after 1 year which is past the PC warranty. The GG has a lot more power too. I 100% agree on the Megs DA MF System! I use M205 with the Finishing pads with superb results!
