Hey,

I've been wanting a Porter Cable for a long time. Is the PC good at fast wax or polish removal? I don't mind applying wax by hand (I really enjoy it, actually), but buffing off is a pain in the ass.

When it comes time to order a Porter Cable, I was just wondering if I should also order this Dual Action Microfiber Bonnet Kit which is the Dual Action Microfiber Bonnet Kit.

Will this setup make it much easier to buff wax off than by hand, with MF towels?

Thanks,
Emile

It makes wax removal a breeze especially with hard to remove sealants like klasse sg. I wouldnt use it for polish removal though since it could cause micro marring.

Polishes referring to swirl removers and stuff, right?

Emile, removing wax by hand is faster, but it is easier by pc. I tired removing by pc with several different waxes, but it seems faster and better by hand. I know you enjoy applying by hand, but with a DA it's faster and IMO you can apply it thinner by machine.

its certainly a challenge to polish with a PC on some finishes, but removing polishes and waxes is quite easy. Really comes down to the correct pad or bonnet to quickly buff the paint in this instance.

I'm ordering a PC and some stuff right now. Can somebody tell me what color pads I would use for applying Zaino Z-AIO? I know Klasse AIO uses white pads, but I'm guessing green pads for the Zaino stuffs?

I ordered:
PC7424
5" backing plate
3.5" backing plate
3 white 5.5" Smart Pads
3 orange 5.5" Smart Pads
3 green 5.5" Smart Pads
2 orange 4" Spot Buffs Pads
2 white 4" Spot Buffs Pads
Poorboy's SSR 2.5
Klasse AIO (restocking my supply)
DG 105 (restocking my supply)
Dual Action MF Bonnet Kit

-Gonna use SSR 2.5 w/Orange Pads and then go straight to Klasse.

-Gonna use Klasse AIO w/White Pads and then go to Zaino Z-AIO or DG105.

Gonna apply Z-AIO or DG105 by hand, but can I apply Zaino with the Green pads? I am assuming the green pads are for cleaner waxes such as Zaino and that's why I ordered them.

Thanks,
Emile

I would use a white pad with Zaino Fuzion (their only true paint polish) or ZAIO (All in One) product. For applying all of their sealants (Z2, Z3, Z5) I would use a finishing pad only. Obviously because Zaino stresses the use of very little, then consider hand application. You can remove by buffer or hand with a light MF as its quite easy to remove IMO. I suggest using the ZFX additive before applying the sealant for best durability unless using ZAIO underneath as it has been offered to help with proper bonding.

ZCS is a bit bland itself for final use IMO, as it doesnt seem to add in any gloss but rather seals in the gloss under it from their sealants. I would highly suggest using the Z8 Spray to add slickness, durability, and gloss as a last step no matter your finishing LSP. It works extremely well over a number of sealants, AIO's, and waxes. Z5Pro+ZCs+Z8= a great combo.

Thanks, killr. I'm going to give you guys a call and see if I can change my order a bit if it didn't go out yet, otherwise I will place another order.

I got my PC and all the stuff in the mail today. I left the office early as soon as I got the UPS/Autogeek e-mail saying that it was delivered.

I'm going to pull the G35 into the garage and try doing the hood this evening and I'll post up some before and after pictures.

Thanks for all the help and info.
