This might be long winded so please bare with me. Received PCXP for Christmas with Megs MF DA kit and two Megs 6.5 inch pads (cutting and polishing). I installed the little white washer and corrected the vehicle but I had to use speed 5-5.5 for cutting and I used 4-4.5 for polishing. Vehicle is awesome but I feel I had to use higher speeds to get the pads to turn. When I try to use the 6.5 inch pads they don't spin on speed 6 unless I have almost no pressure. So my questions are these:

1. Do my speeds seem too high for what is recommended because i was on the higher side of each setting, i.e. 4.5 and 5.5, (4800opm and 3800opm)?
2. Should the PCXP spin a 6.5" pad with a 5" counterweight and 5" backing plate(Megs MF DA)?

Sorry so long and thanks for viewing. I'll upload a pic or two of my vehicle...

1) Pad rotation is the key to leveling paint. Other than Megs MF pads, you can use 6 if necessary to spin them. That being said, get 5.5" pads and go at it at 4.5-5.
2) CW OK. You can use a 5" backing plate but it becomes even less efficient.

the PC generally requires higher settings than other DA polishers

using a 6.5 inch pad with 5 inch bp is not recommended as there is less effective area supported by the backing plate so less of the pad will be working under pressure (which is required to remove swirls).

I'm curious about your results if as you say the pads hardly spun unless you used very little pressure.

Did you mark your backing plate so you could tell if the bp was spinning?

I think you will notice a big difference if you got 5.5 inch mf pads...

When I try to use the 6.5 inch pads they don't spin on speed 6 unless I have almost no pressure. So my questions are these:

Weird as this may sound, with very little pressure you can actually get the pads to NOT spin at all.

Then, if you shove down on the head of the polisher to about 15 pounds of pressure like magic the pad starts spinning. I know because I've been using this tool since it was introduced and because over the years I've had every possible issue brought up and lack of pad spinning is a common issue.

Sometimes it's because people new to machine polishing are timid about applying any real pressure so if they only apply "light" pressure it looks like the tool isn't working when it's just a quirky characteristic of the drive mechanism.

Also, your product besides being whatever it is, (compound, polish, wax), is also your "lubricant" between the pad and the paint and too little product means too little lubrication and this can show up as reduced pad rotation.

Dirty pads won't rotate as easily as clean pads either.

Read through my troubleshooting guide, see if there's anything that you might be missing...

Also, if you haven't already be sure to mark the back of your backing plate to make it easier to see if the pad is in fact rotating.

Some clarification; I used the Megs MF DA system to correct my vehicle, a 2010 black chevy suburban. The speeds indicated in my first post were in reference to the Megs MF DA system during the correcting and polish/wax process. At the end of the day I wanted to try the 6.5" pads on another vehicle and that's when I encountered the no spin foam pad issue/questions. The results were great with the Megs MF DA system, near 90% correction. After much research I think I will invest in some LC 5.5" flat pads and maybe LC HT 5.5" pads as well. I really appreciate all the help here!
