PE8 Review w/ Pictures of work

The minimum speed setting on the PE8 is 1,300 RPM. Maximum is 3,900 RPM

The PE14 will soft start and run at 400 holding the trigger. Runs at 600 RPM with trigger locked and goes up to 2,100 RPM

The Makita will run from 600-3,000 RPM

I wonder why they don't make them all with the ability to run at the wider speed range

Feslopes explanation makes sense, but I have heard that it is difficult to avoid holograms with small pads on a rotary

I will be interested to see a showdown between a PE8 and a "Hernandez Polisher"

I would be sure there is something inside the machine where a technical person might be able to turn down the speed somehow, its probably (maybe not) something to just allow lower power to the elec motor. But I might be wrong.

YES, small pads in my experience hologram for sure. 1" not too bad but my 2" at setting 2 did as you could see in my pics. I always plan on holograms no matter what, and plan to get rid of them by a quick polish pad and SF4000. Seems to work nicely for me. They don't appear to be deep ones so easy to remove. What I don't like is the 1" pads are so small they compress totally when using. Either needs stiffer foam to keep from compressing or just use the 2" ones even if tilted up a little. I was working my front bumper tonight and tried the 1" on a section and by the time I worked 2ft I got tired and gave up and swapped to 2" and went to town. Call it lazy but kinda got tired of working my own car and wanted it done. I have put over 60 hours in it so far and its great just working certain areas from time to time to make it better.
