People Who Live Or Have Been To The New England States

You probably want to take the merrit. Its a two lane highway instead of I 95 which is 3 to 4 lanes at times and like no trees around. Be aware people do speed on the merrit though and state troopers in CT will get you for things pretty simple

The Merritt is a Parkway with no commercial vehicles picked up just outside of NYC with nice foliage and a stress free ride to Hartford

Is the I-84 from the NY border all the way to Hartford, CT a good route for good fall foliage? Or would you recommend a different route?

If you want to charge through CT on the highway to get to MA & NH, 84 & 91 will get you there quickly. However, if looking for back roads (which some are still two lanes) I would take the Taconic State Parkway through NY then Rt.9 into VT.

When around Brattleboro, if the colors are good, the Monadnock Region (Keene to Jaffrey) is beautiful, though the roads are a bit rough.

As everyone has mentioned Kanc, and the Notch area are beautiful. Definitely keep in mind every year's timing is different and it is very difficult to have a "perfect" leaf peeping vacation

Do yourself a favor Marc, and stay where it's warm. Leaves changing color signifies that it won't be long until us denizens of the Northeast will be freezing our n*ts off, and it puts us in the mood to do bodily harm to "leafers".

Lmao! JK bud.
