Perfect Finish for Opti-Coat Winter Project

There are polymers left behind from an ONR wash too, but it can be painted over with absolutely no bonding issues. We engineer our products to work together. You can use OUR polishes, remove the residue with a damp mf, and go directly to OC. There is nothing wrong with a strong wash...it's just not required.

On a side note. I am personally not an advocate of IPA for paint prep. It has no lubricants to keep from maring and can simply loosen waxes and oils for them only to be redeposited as it flashes away. I have always recommended a Power Clean wash and rinse as prep for OC...you just don't have to if you've prepped with our polishes.

d on my experience with the new polish line, which is truly superb ., this is true.

To answer the question on pads, I prefer MF to cut and foam to finish. The Crimson pads finish superb.

Alan, are you talking about the new formulas? TIA!

This is with the older polishes (hyper polish, hyper compound spray, polish II). I havent had the chance to use the newer polishes yet as I still have plenty over the older left over.

With the ONR I can see it not really affecting the coating process as the solvent in it will mostly remove/shift/migrate the polymers similar to opti seal but with the polishes where the carrier is mineral oil I tend to err on the safe side. Just look what happens with you use slightly too much polish. The oily residue becomes harder to wipe away, similar to menzerna polishes, and multiple wipes with several new towels or an IPA wipedown is necessary to completely remove the oils. However, if Optimum says its fine I guess it is, but in the back of my mind logic tells me otherwise so I'll stick to stripping the panel.

Neither, it is a HD quick release windshield for a Dyna, so there is plenty of clear to work with once I remove the braces,

<snip happens>

Now on the acrylics, I have read you are able to do quite a bit with those. At this point it will probably just be a claying, OPC, rinse and wipe, rinse, and OC.

I've got an OEM Sport shield on my FXR with the hard coating. I've used all kinds of things by hand without ill effects..... M205, 105, OPT polishes. I'd try a spot with the Finishing polish and see what you get. Even the Polish II ought to work fine. I just wouldn't get too aggressive with the pad. Once that hard coating gets a scratch or mark you can feel with your fingernail you risk boogering up the coating if you get too aggressive trying to remove 'em.

Sounds about perfect, I have some CCS Red and White foam hand applicators that out to fit the bill perfect. The shield is in good shape, only has about 2300 miles on it and less then half of that was on the highway so there is maybe two rock marks on it. Figured this is the next best thing to doing it when it was new.

Hi lasthope i have the same issue you have with optimum polish II new formula... Sometimes it's really tough to remove even if i wipe right after polishing a section.. Opc and ipa at 1:3 doesnt remove them at all...Dialing in the right amount of polish seems to be the only way to not have the problem and it hasnt been easy for me.. In the end i had to do 3m ultrafina step to clear that oily mess... It can only be cleared that way for me...

So how about hyper polish do you get easier removal with it ?
