Performance Chip

Im definately not a pro and I'm only looking to get more HP and towing when needed and better fuel economy when applicable.

Take a look at the SCT stuff, pm me your info and your vehicle and when I am at Hermann's tomorrow I will see what he suggests.

Never said it was a bad tuner just more popular .It's the no brainer tuner for the guy who just want to push a couple of buttons and doesn't really care what it's changing or doing

Actually again thats not true. Yes it is a simple system for people who just want to flash, turn off TC, and adjust gear ratio's. But its actually a very good tuner if you understand how to use it. Hell my brothers 04 GT is running a tune off the handheld for a 125 shot.

My neighbors best friend went through 2 transmissions with his ford F350 after installing his chips. I don't know how it would affect things. But, he used his truck to transport expensive cars across the country. Would those chips affect towing negatively?

You can do that with an sct tuner, so just because he is running nitrous off the handheld it means it is that much better, now that is not true. Getting it properly tuned is the correct way to do things, not just using a basic tune or a generic one off a site.

I wont disagree against that. Dyno tunes by a professional are the best. But the Diablo handheld for a mildly modded street car, in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, can do a good tune.

I am not arguing that the Diablo is the best, just that for a street car with a street tune, diablo wins, for a dyno tune hands down SCT.

I'm too stupid to even bother reading other posts.
I have an SCT 4-Bank Eliminator chip. I love it. Stock tune and the three octane tunes. You have to have a professional tuner (person) to do it, though.

A little late to the party but if you have the ability to get a dyno or road tune, it will be much better than any mailbox tune. When I first started modifying my Saab, I got a mail order tune which at the time felt much better than stock but I later found it was running rich most of the time because each car is slightly different.

After I went big turbo and injectors, I got a completely custom tune for my car that made such a massive difference in terms of the quality the car was running at. Also, get as involved as possible in a forum which has other owners of your car... I cannot tell you how valuable they have been for me over my tuning journey, not to mention all the little problems you may face down the road.

Hello. I would say the Diablo Sport Predator or Trinity. I run the Predator on my car, SRT-4 Neon, and love it. This is just my opinion that I formed based on modifying my car, please form your own since you have an entirely different vehicle.

I highly recommend joining a forum dedicated to your particular vehicle, do a lot of research before purchasing anything, read, read, read, then read some more. Then start asking questions to other members privately, and the last step would be ask questions publicly if you can't find your answer. A lot of automotive forums have some real jerks and will make you feel like an idiot if you don't follow these basic guidelines. Trust me, I know from experience!

I really hope this helps the least little bit so that you get more excited about your vehicle. Sorry to write a book but I like to share my experiences to help others.

Like Dana said 50hp your not going to feel. Whether it's "HP/RWTQ" or just better gas mileage. Dan is the Man. He's also a distriubtor for Diablo. He's a true Pro!!! I hope this helps & good luck to you.:xyxthumbs:

This is off topic, but what is the best performance chip for gasoline engine. Have an 08 F250 with the 5.4 and research isn't telling me much. Any advice would be great. Thanks

SCT LiveWire from 5star tuning. I've had wonderful help from Mike and have even made my own tunes. There is a forum dedicated to tuning questions if u are running into trouble. I have a 2002 5.4L 2v but yours is also covered. Also I have an LM-1 and a ash readout meter that I can tap into an use it for datalogging.

Is the forum on the 5 star website?

No it's on the sct website. The thing about the SCT tuner is the versatility it provides. Code reader/remover, acceleration recorder, PID monitor in real time. Alarm setup and datalogger. One complete and comprehensive unit.

This is the best tuner according to F150online (which I belong to) I would check them out Power Hungry Performance - Feed your hunger for POWER! Check out our Gryphon Programmer for Ford vehicles!. They are very highly praised for there tunes on the forum which is probably the largest forum for f-150's, and the engine in your truck is the same as mine 5.4 I believe you said so it would work exceptional for you. Get the one called Gryphon when I buy out my truck I think im going to bit the bullet and get the tuner.

Good luck with whatever you get

Is this a stock truck? what has been done to it? If it's stock you would get more bang for the buck from a catback exhaust then a chip. Depending on how bad the intake inlet system is an after market intake inlet system will add to your over all performance.
