Pete's 53 - Nice wax
Last night we used Chemical Guy's Pete's 53 on the Fiat 500 Sport we buffed out and I though I would share my thoughts...
"It's a very nice finishing or show car wax"
Pete's 53 is a finishing wax
Car Waxes, that is the generic use of the term "car wax" to mean any type of traditional wax or paint sealant you apply to protect your car's paint can be divided, (most of the time), into one of two categories.
Page 37 - Paint Condition Categories
Paint in category 1 or 2 is paint that is clean and smooth with no above surface bonded contaminants and little to zero visible defects like swirls and scratches. In other words the paint is in like new condition or better than like new condition.
A finishing wax has no cleaners in it, either solvent, chemical or mechanical and thus offers no cleaning ability. (This is why it's only for paint in excellent condition).
A cleaner/wax on the other hand is formulated with some type of solvents, chemicals or abrasives, or a combination of the latter to clean neglected paint to some level so that the appearance of the paint is improved and also so the protection ingredients can better bond or stick to the paint surface.
WoWo Wax
Pete's 53 is also a WoWo wax, that is it's a wax you can wipe-on and then immediately wipe-off. There is no recommended waiting time to allow the wax to dry. This makes the product very easy to use or as I like to say,
Bubba-Proof
It's bubba-proof in the sense that some people simply have no talent for washing and waxing their own cars. People like this can tend to get into trouble with waxes that need to dry because if they apply to thick of a coat, (common), they will struggle trying to remove it and,
I personally like to recommend WoWo waxes to people that I think would benefit from the above characteristics.
Last night we machine polished and then machine applied the Pete's 53 to a metallic pearl white paint job on a brand new Fiat 500 Sport. I also used this product two days before on black paint to really see how it performs.
Myself and everyone involved with last nights' project found the wax easy to remove and the results were a crystal clear, slick, high gloss finish. If you've been reading about Pete's 53 wax and thinking about testing it out, I would say go for it as long as you understand it's a finishing wax and not a cleaner/wax and then do the necessary prep work required, (if any), to prepare your car's finish for a finishing or show car wax.
Here's the results from applying Pete's 53

A: Inflict toweling marks into the paint in their struggle.
B: Have a bad experience due to their own fault but blame the product.
With a WoWo wax you eliminate the drying element of the application and removal process and thus eliminate much of any potential problems the use could experience.B: Have a bad experience due to their own fault but blame the product.
