The roof was a DIY job and after inspecting the area I had to approach this differently than the rest of the body. First off there were spots in the roof showing the OEM blue, this led me to believe that in some areas the paint was thin. So my plan of attack was 1100 rpm (lowest speed on my rotary) on a white pad with 106ff, very carefully. Here are the results, an improvement but nothing I'm pleased with.

If you notice in some of these shots the rear spoiler is full of heavy orange peal and sanding marks. The rear spoiler, rear bumper, side skirts, nosepanel, mirrors and bumper are all the same way in appearance. Since my meter cannot read the levels of microns on these body panels, I had to approach it the same way I did with roof.

Very nicely brought back to life, you have to love those older M3s. You really had your hands full with the level of correction needed and you achieved close to perfection Thanks for sharing with us, your writeups are always enjoyable.

As always, top notch work

You are correct, I wish I could give an immediate answer. I searched for a few minutes on bimmerforums for a vendor that sold reps, but couldn't locate any. If I do I will let you know, otherwise they seem to pop up from time to time in the wheels classifieds.
