Why do you think you need 2 gallons of water per day?

I try to drink two gallons, but a minimum of one a day!

Two reasons...

-1-It keeps you hydrated and flushes your system of the crap!
-2-I have a disease "Gilbert's Sydrome" look it up here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert's_syndrome

Maybe? 2 gallons is a lot of water, just like drinking too little, drinking too much is bad for you. It can eventaully lead to death, diluting sodium levels and lead to hyponatremia.

The DRI for men from 19-50 years is 3.7 liters of TOTAL water per day. For women its 2.7 TOTAL liters per day. By total water I mean all the water you get from drinking, eating, etc. The basic guideline is still eight glasses of water per day. This will vary depending on age, weight, activity level, and location (weather, indoor, outdoor, etc.)

And I already knew that you could die from drinking too much water. I use to take Creatine in HS, but stopped after I began getting headaches and seeing blood in my urine. I gained 10lbs. and lost it once I stopped taking it....it was all water weight!

03GT,

Just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge. Oh, and nice GT, BTW, I drive a mustang as well.

My question: Lately, I've been reading up on "The Abs Diet Plan" in Men's Health Magazine. I was wondering if you have any input on the system, including the exercise/diet combination.

I'm a 25 year old ex-jock who has started to put on a little extra weight in my new desk job. Currently 6' and ~175-185 lbs (it's mostly flab now, I used to weigh the same and be mostly muscle). Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again.

I like what I read here, http://www.menshealth.com/cda/artic...2a99edbbbd201099edbbbd2010cfe793cd____&page=1

As for the exercise, not so much. I get dizzy just looking at the split. To me, it seems too complicated and a bit random. Instead, Id lift weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday do chest and bi's, Wed do tri's and back, Fri do legs and shoulders. This is a great split for someone beginning, or getting back into lifting. Reps and sets will be based on someone trying to lose weight. Do at least 4 exercises per body part, 4 sets and 12-15 reps. This will burn the fat, increase muscular endurance, and increase muscular strength. The goal here is to burn fat, its not focused on building muscle yet.

Between each set, do some kind of ab exercise for 12 reps. So pretty much, you're going 45 minutes straight, no resting. The key to getting abs is doing the exercise right, not doing 1000reps the wrong way. This will give you a total of 24 sets each day, with 288 CORRECT reps. Youll burn calories throughout the entire time, keep your heart rate up, and get that six pack.

Ill get back to you with my opinion about the diet.

No need to get into specifics, I was just curious of your overall feeling. I manage to eat pretty well without following strict menus. I could possibly apply some of the overall guidelines (which you linked to) without following the diet to the letter. Thanks for your recommendation on the exercises though, I may put that into effect with my daily run.

PS - I never though I'd be getting advice on how to eat and train on a detailing forum :D . Just one more reason to enjoy this place, and everyone involved.
