Pick 1 - Wax - Sealant - Coating

For my personal cars I love products that you can always maintain/ top. I love spraying spray wax on a previously waxed car and getting it back to 100% or even applying detail spray as a drying aid and getting that pop. Coatings have recently begun to do this by offering coating specific detail sprays and toppers. I do like the longevity of coatings as well.
+1 for coatings

Ceramic coatings for their hydrophobic and self cleaning properties. My car has been in rain and washed more than 1 week ago and there isn't much dirt on it and brake dust is nearly non existant

It depends my car or my wife's car? I spend far less time detailing my wife's car so I like the longevity of a coating. I can spend the time and energy that a coating requires and it will last a long time before I need to work on it again. On my car I use a sealant beacuse to be honest I like detailing my car and having to do a full detail a couple or more times a year is fine with me.

If I HAD to pick one it would be sealant as I do not enjoy the coating process.

Sealant. We do 99% daily drivers, wax does not last long enough against bird droppings and bug damage. Ceramics are better, but on these daily drivers, they need detailed again before the useful life of the coating is gone. Nathan

Exactly what I encounter.

I prefer wax over the other 2. I have used all 3 and if I could only choose 1 Wax would be for me. But I like a sealant topped off with a wax. Happy New Year's everyone!

Sealant, mostly because I like using AIO/cleaner waxes. When I do a vehicle I can hit it with an AIO, take 5 minutes to add a little extra spray sealant to the mirrors and front clip, and it'll be fine for a few months. Whenever I see it again I just add more sealant. Most of the time this is done for the cost of a six pack so I'm not gonna pay $$ for products.

For my black car nothing made it pop better then a light polish in spring so the 3 year coatings wouldn't get their full life. I'm open to the idea of an affordable 1-2 year coating though. A "coating" is an LSP that requires a polish & prep wipe before reapplication so all the spray & rinse, Si02 toppers, and the like fall under "sealant" category to me.

Sealants - particularly the wipe on type.....Everything else is entirely too much hassle for me.

Paint coating, durability and self-cleaning ability

Synthetic Sealant.
-Wipe on/Wipe off.
-No curing time needed. It’s instantly ready to go.
-Lasts at least 3-4 months. [some people would be happy with its behavior @6 months]
-Darkens paint and leaves a noticeable shine + has the ability to hide fine swirls if there happens to be any.
-I can reapply another layer of it and start the protection anew at anytime after a wash without any kind of tedious prep or removal of the previous layer.
-The freedom to reapply before the protection wears off allows the paint to be protected against bonded contaminants year round/non stop, eliminating the need to clay, not just for months, but for years...

-The water beading I get is on par if not better than any coating I’ve seen.

-Self cleaning ability no doubt.

I have never used a coating so I can't say anything negative about it. For me it's a synthetic sealant topped off with a wax once in a while. I enjoy the activity of waxing especially since I started using a machine to apply the product.
The longevity of the sealants and waxes that I use work for me. I was able to get 6 months out of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant and about 4 months from Collinite 845.

Wax or sealant. Have determined cooler temps suck massively for anything that has sio2 in it

1. Coating
2. Sealant
3. Wax
I like the results of the coating and the longevity. Not a fan of waxes anymore, minimal use of sealants and not really impressed with the ones I have used.
