Pictures from Barrett-Jackson 2010 - Mothers Virtual Power Tour

I had the opportunity to work with Victor Scalco and the Mothers Special Events Team including Eric Dunn from Lake Country Manufacturing at this year's Barrett-Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach Florida and it was a BLAST!

Setting up the Mothers booth is a huge project but the finished project is worth the effort and communicates to car enthusiasts that Mothers is hardcore when it come to car care...

Victor Scalco from Mothers adds some shine, in this picture he's using the 83432 Foam Pad Polish from Mothers Professional Line.

A couple forum members from the primary forum I post on, AutogeekOnline.net stopped by to say hi while checking out the cars and all the vendor's booths...

Can’t remember this gentleman’s forum name… if he contacts me I’ll edit this post and add his name.

Now on to the Mothers Virtual Power Tour with pictures of cars at the 2010 Barrett-Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Florida

If you look at the B-Pillar on the car below, you can see rotary buffer swirls, this is why I always say,

Mike Phillips said:
You can have the greatest painter in the world paint your car but it’s the guy that
does the wet-sanding, cutting and polishing that makes or breaks the paint job

Looking for a way to keep your car dust-free and safe from bird droppings?

Back in the 1950’s Continental Kits were very popular as a way to hold a spare tire without taking up room in the trunk and adding a little bling at that same time.
2010BJM031.jpg

This is an AMC Javelin, I think it was a 1970 or 1971, these had the Coke bottle style fender lines like classic Corvettes from the 1970’s and 1980’s and you could get them with BIG BLOCKS!

The fins on this 1960 Impala are referred to has “Horizontal Fins” as compared to the "Vertical Fins" on a 1959 Cadillac.

Behemoths… there isn’t any cursed black pebble textured plastic trim on cars like these

This is a Jeep Scrambler which was a convertible Jeep Truck available in the 1980’s I believe, they are pretty hard to find now days…

Note: I didn't have time or the ability to carry a clipboard with me and write down details about each car, there were too many cars to look at and too much ground to cover.

My comments about years, makes and models is drawn from memory about these cars and by usually looking at the grills, hoods or body styles to place the year of manufacture. If I make a mistake on the title of a car please let me know and I'll make the change, I'm confident everyone else would never make a mistake. :D

Pontiac Safari Woodie Station Wagon, don't remember what the grill looked like even though I looked at
the front of the car but judging by the fender lines I would guess this is a 1952 or 1953 vintage.

1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville - These had the largest vertical fins to ever come out of Detroit and came with a 390 Big Block Engine with a a 4-Speed Hydra-Matic Transmission.

Buick Skylark I believe, about a 1972...
Back in the late 1970's and even early 1980's these were looked down upon when compared to a Chevelle or Mustang...

This was cool looking, I like it because I always referred to my Sanger Drag Boat as a "Corvette on the water"

Oldsmobile 442 Convertible... my guess is about a 1968 or 1969, the fender lines are throwing me...

If you ever get a chance to attend a Barrett-Jackson Auction, go for it, as you'll have the chance to see a wide variety of cars that just come out of the woodwork.

Closing thoughts...
Hope you enjoyed the pictures from this year's Barrett-Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Florida. I would like to thank Mothers Management, Forrest Tosi and everyone on the Mothers Special Events Team for letting me hang out with them for 2 days and help with their booth.

Thanks for all the pics Mike! Looks like you had a good time.

Thanks for the Pictures.

Is the very last Picture, one of your Truck? Did you auction it off, too?

The Black residue on the Mothers Red Foam Buffers, can it and does it come off?

Does the build-up of the residue impair the future performance of the Buffer?

How do you prevent product from being flung off, when it gets up to speed?

Thanks for the Pictures.

Yes, that is my truck and because it's my daily driver I drove it to the auction each day and parked it in a sea of new cars... nothing wrong with new cars but the cars people collect are the old school style and the highly prized collectible cars, at least highly prized muscle cars have the big blocks in them. I've put a big block chevy engine into just about everything I've ever owned if it didn't already come with one. 1975 was the last year for the full convertible before they started putting permanent hard tops over the cab, so the full convertible models are becoming harder and harder to find in good condition. They never came with a big block so I had to fix that problem. Even though it's big and heavy, it has low gears and tons of torque, so it really gets with the program when you put the pedal to the metal.

Mothers metal polishes are all water-based, so the residue can be washed out by hand with some soap. No worries...

As for sling, don't spin the drill as fast it it will go... don't over use product...

:)

Wow! Sure looks like you got to have lots of fun! Great pics! Thanks for sharing! :dblthumb2:

Mike, the '57 Chevy went for $73,700. There were some amazing cars there. I wasn't, sad to say. I was at Disney with the kids, and I watched some of it on TV in the evening. Thanks for the photos! Nice work.

Holly cow that a lot of pictures of some sweet rides! Looks like you had a blast Mike!

Thanks for sharing! :dblthumb2:

So many great pictures Mike. I can remember back when all those cars and trucks were on the road as daily drivers. Detroit sure doesn't make them like they use too. :cool pics:

Hey Mike first of all great photos. My nine year old son and I made it out on Friday to the auction and had a fantastic time.

As far as the classes go, are you going to be changing the format? I went to the last 101 class in the fall and was anxiously awaiting the 201 class.

Will the new class cover these techniques or will there be an "advanced" class?
