Wow! Nice collection of drool mobiles. You musta been in heaven.
I think your mystery Pontiac is a Plymouth Road Runner about a '68 vintage.

The paint on that black GT500 under the Mother's awning looks fantastic.

Edit - actually, after a closer look, I think it is a GTX. You can see the GTX at the back of the rocker stripe. A friend of mine's dad had a '68 Roadrunner with that same hood and same color when I was growing up.

For sure there was alot of eye candy there .But to be honest the cars look alot better in pictures then in person.I tried to take some close up pictures of swirled cars but my camera just couldn't pick up the swirls.

Gotta love the 'vettes and the speed boat too!!! I like the purple flames on the truck as well!

As far as the classes go, are you going to be changing the format? I went to the last 101 class in the fall and was anxiously awaiting the 201 class.

Will the new class cover these techniques or will there be an "advanced" class?

This first class will be focused on the differences in electric polishers and the correct technique for using them. It will be an opportunity for everyone to use each polisher to get a first and feel for the tool itself and how it works. It is assumed everyone knows how to do the basics like claying and if not they can watch our video on it here,

How detailing clay works and how to use detailing clay to remove above surface bonded contaminants

I will also cover Damp Sanding by machine and removing sanding marks with a DA Polisher and a Rotary Buffer. (At least that's the plan) As for classes after this I'll post more information later.

Wow! Nice collection of drool mobiles.

And here's the AMAZING part... most of these cars were under just 2 tents, I didn't have time to check out any of the other tents or locations for cars. That's why everyone needs to go to an even like this in person and wear some comfortable shoes...

I went to my first Barrett-Jackson Auction back in 2004, can't find any threads on it but I buffed out 3 cars while I was there. Then I went again in 2006 and one of the things I did was document the actual swirls in the cars that you don't see when you watch the cars on TV.

While there were plenty of cars that needed improvement, my personal observation is that the overall quality of the paint on the cars there is vastly improved over how the cars generally looked 6 and even 4 years ago.

I would attribute this to 2 things,

1. Mothers has a team of knowledgeable detailers providing professional quality detailing including paint polishing and waxing on site. They can't force car owners to use their services but help is available if someone wants or needs it.

2. Discussion forums like this one have make a lot of headway into educating people on the proper tools, products and techniques to avoid swirls and to remove swirls.
I see better quality finishes at car shows now days too...

That's a good sign, if we haven't reached the tipping point yet, I think we soon will...

:)

I live near Auburn, IN (about 1.5 hrs). They have a huge auction Labor day weekend every year. The overall quality is not as good, but, still worth the trip.

Mike Mike Mike, that's not a 67 its a 64. Shame on you :bat:

I never said I was an expert at identifying all cars on earth, I'm pretty good at most Detroit Iron but no expert.

Didn't read this part? I posted it twice in this thread,

Note: I didn't have time or the ability to carry a clipboard with me and write down details about each car, there were too many cars to look at and too much ground to cover.

My comments about years, makes and models is drawn from memory about these cars and by usually looking at the grills, hoods or body styles to place the year of manufacture. If I make a mistake on the title of a car please let me know and I'll make the change. I'm pretty good at getting close but don't always get it perfect when dating a car, make and model. :D

Next time I'll pack a clipboard or take a picture of the data sheet on each windshield, then I'll have a couple more hundred pictures to sift through, crop, resize, name, upload and insert.
