So i have been washing ,waxing and some polishing for years but no experience with paint coatings. After reading on the forum i think i may want to try it on my daily driver.
I was thinking about c quarts finest. But i see pinnacle black label now on sale.
my 1 st question is i see they have a paint coating and a surface coating. whats the diference between them? 2nd is i dont see many members here talking about black label coatings.
does anyone have input on ether of these. and last is there any precautions i should take when applying them. can i ruin my paint with them?
 
I've been curious about the surface coating too. I've asked the question a few times, and so have others, but to my knowledge it's never been answered.

We all realize the surface coating can do glass, paint, and anything else. We also realize that the paint coating, wheel coating, etc. are intended for specific purpose. What seems to be a secret, is why we would buy anything other than the surface coating. Is the paint coating a better paint coating than the surface coating? But the surface coating still pretty good, so it's a good deal because you can do your glass and wheels too? I'd love to know!

I'm curious about PBL too. It isn't talked about much, but then, it's pretty new. I'll be in the market for a coating come spring.

maybe because it looks to be more expensive than the other ones. yea i am also looking to do this right after winter. good luck and thanks for the feed back

It's more expensive than any ONE of them, but not than the combined set, if I remember right.

I'm just curious as to which is better. If the surface coating is 100% as good or better than the paint coating on paint, the glass coating on glass, and the wheel coating on the wheels, then I'd be all over it. I'd also wonder why they markey the individual coatings. If the individual coatings have a slight leg-up in one area, then it'd worth the extra few bucks. But that's what I haven't been able to find out. I asked in a couple of threads and others have too, but nobody seems to know! Maybe the nice people at AGO will chime in and edumucate us.
 
IIRC, the specific coatings are formulated different from the surface coating. I can't quote exact chemistry but I remember reading they had made the specific coatings to excel over the surface coating.

Have been using the surface coating for a few months now with outstanding results. Why anyone would buy the individual coatings when you can get one to do everything is beyond me. Even if it just for your own vehicle you could re coat this every year and have enough for twenty years...

How is the slickness? Does it seem to help protect from micro-marring and scratches? (like one might get over dozens of repeated waterless wash sessions, or even the occasional rub-up from a pair of bluejeans from a passerby or something).

That's kind of been my thinking too. Why wouldn't you just buy the surface coating? There has to be something 'better' about the individual coatings right? If there is I'd love to hear about it.

I haven't seen many of the vehicles I've done yet back yet so I can't really comment on the scratch resistance but the slickness is insane and the beading is very good as well.

This is definitely the closest you are going to get. In speaking with Nick he did share that the dedicated coating will outlast the AIO surface coating since it is specifically designed and formulated for it. I've used both the surface coating and the dedicated paint coating and will attest that the optical results are the same but the perceived slickness and beading seems to favor the dedicated coating a bit..... where the real meat and potatoes of the question lie is in the longevity (since you will be thrilled with both), and for that we do not have real world experience.

^^ Totally agreed! I recently coated my own truck this weekend. You can read the thread I posted and see the pictures and vids I shared. I am planning on reporting on the long term as well as the "topping" that seems to set this coating line over the others.

P.S. I did do a couple of Show 'N Shine on the coating and the results are speaking for themselves
 
Well, I did see that the PBL line-up now includes a coating specific quick detail spray as well as a coating booster. I don't know whether that's good or bad.

Does it mean that the coating agent won't get the longevity we hoped for, or are they trying to cater to us in a way that CarPro Reload does for the Cquartz line-up to get that freshly applied coating slickness back to the vehicle?

Hmm, this might really muddy the waters a bit for durability testing purposes, as I might not be able to resist the urge to apply a topper here. I really fell in love with the look I got the first day I got to see it in full sun after the initial application.

Might be a case of chasing the dragon here a bit.

Kind of concerned on the price per oz ratio on the quick detailer, 8oz isn't a lot of product.
