Pinnacle Souveran vs. P21S

I like what killr said in another string somewhere: "I sleep better knowing Souveran is in my garage" or something like that. I couldn't agree more. As for the price, just think about the investment you have in your car. Is $70 really that much in relation to the thousands you spent on the car? To get the best look possible (and by a wide margin), I would consider $70 cheap! Eapecially given Souveran's ease of use and the dozens of cars you can do with one jar. My vehicle(s) is worth it. Why short-change your investment to save a few dollars on cheaper wax? The saving is practically negligible. It's no no-brainer.

I really wish more mustang owners had that mentailty, there are times I feel like I'm typing for no reason cause most of the time I get "I went ahead and picked up megs gold class it's the best"

If Souveran is too pricey, try Top of the Line's Trade Secret. It's $37 for an 8oz. jar. I too was disappointed with the wetness and depth of P21S. For the money, Natty's Blue is tough to beat. JMO.

Gotta agree, Natty's Blue has pretty good durability for a nuba and looks extremely wet and deep. I honestly can't really tell a difference on a friends black M5 between it and Souveran, NB actually look a little wetter and Souv looks more warm/deep if that makes sense.

I have Souveran on my hood and P21s on my trunk. Both are spit shined. Perhaps given that, I can't see much of a difference in appearance. Those spit shined layers of caranuba seem to be the key to the magic look for me.

DP Maxwax on mettalic blue (Dark blue metallic pearl to be exact)

Souveran (overcast day)

Sig II

Sig II on red

The Fusion is my wifes car and out of all the LSP's I have put on the paint, she prefers and request DP MaxWax over all of them. She just loves the way it brings the flakes out of the paint. So if you have flakes DP may be a good place to start.

P21S offers a high beeswax count in their wax, thus it beads well but doesnt do a darn thing for paint protection itself. Pinnacle Souveran and Sig Series for that matter offer better depth and wetness. They look surprisingly better. I would probably side with P21S in durability (length of protection) as maybe one extra week.

Pinnacle is the easiest of waxes to remove. It is WOWO .... you dont allow it to formally dry.

Trade Secret is a top quality product for a good price.

I've been wondering why I've not seen anyone mention Trade Secret. Back in 2004 I had the Souveran, both liquid and paste and the Trade Secret. I preferred the look of the Souveran on my red truck I had then, but on the wife's midnight blue metallic car, I liked the Trade Secret. I thought it was a very nice wax.

Great fun to see a four year old thread being resurrected. I have never tried Trade Secret, but the reviews I have read are certainly positive. I do love Souveran. My S2K is presently wearing two coats of it. It's easy to apply and it gives a warm, inimitable glow. But durability certainly lacks. After a week (or less) it certainly looks like any other wax. After another two or three weeks I'm needing to apply a fresh coat of wax.

If one has the money to burn and one's car is black or red, I certainly recommend that one go all in and buy a tub. The initial look is beautiful. But having tried a bunch of waxes over the past two years, I suspect that Harly Wax or M26 is a much better value, and few beyond yourself will be able to tell the difference; indeed, on a side-by-side comparison, see if you can tell the difference.

I'm not saying that all waxes are the same, but having now invested more money than I care to admit in waxes, I have to admit that I have wasted a lot of money.

souveran looks the best after a few hours ive noticed this with most carnuaba waxes. they recommend your car siting in the sun for a couple hours..

Here is my simple rule and it applies to EVERYTHING in life (not just wax)...it is not an issue of how much it cost..it is how much is it worth to YOU!. Bottom line is if you want better than average waxes you will have to pay the extra for that. Most waxes that charge more do more either in shine or protection.
