Pinnacle surface coating

Who knows. Maybe the prep polish has some type of something in it that catalyzes the coating. To say "as long as the surface is clean your fine" may not be true. The Pinnacle/DP coating seems to be different than tradition offerings (CQ, OC, G-Tech), so maybe the prep required is different as well. I'm sure it will "work", but why go through all the time and energy to try? People are basing "a clean naked panel is all you need" on their experiences with other coatings that may or may not be similar.

I know I thought I knew it all and used Menz/WG polishes before OptiCoat. I did IPA wipe downs etc... 6 mos later the coating was gone. I repeated later with Optimum polishes and it's holding up good as new. Basically, if your going to make your own assumptions you'll get whatever results you get.

Just people, please don't come on here and say the coating sucks if you didn't follow the recommendations/directions. TIA!

Right on.

In some cases, a certain prep is needed to facilitate bonding. In other cases, it can be a marketing tool to sell another product.

Like I said in my thread, it was mostly to satisfy my own curiosity.

If in 6 months no quarter sheets or beads, I did the whole thing incorrectly. If only the PBL SC survives, well have our answer.

But, if any other section survives, won't that be interesting?

Coatings seem to be finicky. DP and PBL are very easy to apply, but the coatings will be only as good as the surface prep and the person applying the coat.

I can't wait until spring time...

Has anyone with PBLDSC (jeez that's long) used it on a vehicle with vinyl wrap/striping?

My 08 Challenger has vinyl stripes from the factory on the hood, wondering if these should be taped off and avoided.

Also, does the cleansing polish leave white residue if it collects in a crevice like an AIO cleaner or cleaner waxes typically do?

I'd like to know if Vinyl can be coated with the PBL Paint coating also?

You're right. My bad; I went back and read your post again. Fair points.

It's all good... sort of figured you didn't pick up on it the first time around. ;)

And so far.... we really don't have any other answer to a different effect now do we. ;)

Me figures interesting will be a MAJOR understatement there my friend!

You, me, and everyone else! (Not to mention this case of walking pneumonia I've been totin' around the last couple of weeks!)
