Pinnacle waxes - what is percentage of carnauba?

I hate Zymol products. Way overpriced and overrated.

Thanks but meant the look to the different Pinnacles,P21S mentioned

Max Wax is a very good looking wax also, often missed amongst many stars. It does not contain any cleaners or abrasives so a proper cleaning/polishing is needed. I remember someone calling it Souveran Lite many years ago ... it was that good. :props:

Cool thread to revive

What is the longest a thread has been dead on AGO before it was given CPR?

This one was 8 years, 8 months, 2 days

Would be interesting what would happen now if someone claimed 20 coats of wax on their car

Does this mean that the $11.99 car wash down the street that advertises 100% carnauba wax is massaging the truth?

Pasted from the article here, and listen to the tone used in reference to Montan wax: "We do not use any beeswax, Montan wax, Palm wax, or paraffin. We pack our waxes with the maximum ammount of Ivory Carnuba wax."
Question: Is Montan wax, which seems to be marketed as higher-grade than carnuba, regardless of where it's grown, innferior or less-than to carnuba?

Interesting info from our friends at Wikipedia

Montan wax

Montan wax, also known as lignite wax or OP wax, is a hard wax obtained by solvent extraction of certain types of lignite or brown coal. Commercially viable deposits exist in only a few locations, including Amsdorf, Germany, and in the Ione Basin near Ione, California.

Properties

Its color ranges from dark brown to light yellow when crude, or white when refined. Its composition is non-glyceride long-chain (C24–C30) carboxylic acid esters (62–68 weight %), free long-chain organic acids (22–26%), long-chain alcohols, ketones, and hydrocarbons (7–15%), and resins; it is in effect a fossilized plant wax. Its melting range is 82–95 °C.

Uses

It is used for making car and shoe polishes, paints, and phonograph records, and as lubricant for molding paper and plastics. About a third of total world production is used in car-polishing polishes. Formerly, its main use was making carbon paper. Unrefined montan wax contains asphalt and resins, which can be removed by refining. Montan wax in polishes improves scuff resistance, increases water repellence, and imparts high gloss."

Apparently all of it is imported by one company and sold to manufacturers

Precisely why I'm asking as who ever has used it has mentioned Pinnacle waxes in the same breath. I will add this to my collection soon, busy making up a decent shopping list, dont want to just import one item, doesn't make sense to.

There is a higher content of carnauba on a wax and is J97 from CG

The disclaimer : "Inside Project J97 is the FUEL. Among the protective ingredients in Project J97 is a blend of rare oils acquired from around the world. Project J97 contains up to 64 percent grade Brazilian #1 white carnauba by volume enriched by a custom formulated, proprietary blend of natural waxes and combined with a durable airspace sealant to extended durability. Project J97 is truly a work of art."
So not ALL are less than 40% IMO if this claims are real
Btw I know is $1000 wax but they are higher carnauba % on waxes than 30-40%

and it works wonders!!!!!

Are you saying you used it before, or bought it? I am really interested to listen to you compare it to other waxes out on market.
On another note; I have heard the label can say any percent it wants because, somehow, it's listed as "percent per volume." Inother word, they could put a drop of pure carnuba and claim it's 100% because 100% of the drop was 100%. I think...

What are you willing to bet that the "durable airspace sealant" is CG Jetseal?

"blend of natural waxes and combined with a durable airspace sealant to extended durability."

Someone should call CG Customer Service and ask....nevermind

Shouldn't it be aerospace instead of "airspace"

"blend of natural waxes and combined with a durable airspace sealant to extended durability."

Thanks... I'm not a millionaire to buy a $2.000 Zymol:D , Souveran is more then enough for me!!!;) .

BF Midnight Sun is awesome too, and I have Souveran also. I've been using MS lately.

Midnight Sun applied last weekend:

I believe you're on the same line of thinking I am on.

He does own it he won it from AG just last week and has already applied it!

Yes I won the Autogeek Christmas gift, I started a thread to review the wax with pictures, will update during the next few days after wash the car, rain, driving around to go work and ask my co-workers at the shop area their opinions so more than one eye or perspective make comments on the wax.
I own Pinnacle' Sou and few other nice waxes but I am extremely satisfied with the reflection and touching the paint is just feel smooth as first day applied.
Thread said : Project J97 a gift from autogeek

I've had a few years, since this thread originated, to think about the percentage-content of carnauba wax that goes into car-care products labeled as Carnauba Waxes.

When the information is both helpful and accurate it endures over time. For this reason there's no such thing as an "old thread" on this forum.
^^^ :iagree: ^^^

Repetitive threads survive the test of time here for a few reasons. Accuracy of information like MIke p said is one thing but the other is the new members coming in. They have the same curiosity's as most of have had, asked and inquired on.
