So, it really takes a lot to really piss me off or irritate me, but today, one of those things happened.

First of all, I work at a BMW dealership, and in our shop, there is a tech that I know. Now, it wasn't until recently that I found out he was the brother of a VERY good elementary school friend, so that was interesting. Well, the tech just got back from Hawaii, and when he got back, he told me he had interesting news about his brother. FYI: his brother works at a body shop repairing cars/doing body work.

Now with that bit of information, this is what he told me. Less than a few weeks ago, his brother was working on a police car, repairing some damage that was done to it. While he was working on it, his girlfriend stopped by to see him, and of course being 'girly', brought a camera with her. She took a picture of him, and naturally as probably all of us do when good friends take pictures, he flipped off the camera. She thought it was a funny picture, so she put it up on her Myspace. FYI in case you didn't get it yet, the picture ended up being him standing with a cop car flipping the camera off.

Now, soon after, he is contacted by VERY pissed off police saying that he is being accused of terrorist threats! He has already been fired from his job because of it, and a court date is already being set up!

I don't know about you guys, but CRAP like this PISSES me off! I REALLY pray that he isn't accused of anything and he gets his job back.

I do feel sorry for the guy because he obviously meant no harm or was even aware his actions would even cause such an incident.

However, we all know how serious the authorities take these sort of joke actions and when you get caught the repercussions are often severe.

The stupid part about this is it was posted on Myspace, why people like incriminating themselves is beyond me, that has to go down as one of the dumbest things I've heard of in a long time. Bring back common sense.

That just sucks. I hope things work out for him.

flipping off the camera with a cop car equals terrorist???

I do not see how any thing like that will hold up in court....plus how did they get her address to her MySpace to view it....

if they do take it to court thats a real waste of tax payers money....

Well...Big Brother is watching, one way or another. Anyone that thinks Myspace or YouTube or any other online venue is private, they are seriously delusional. In some cases, real criminals have been caught because of bragging on the web. However, ANYTHING can be misinterpreted by the wrong person, as evidenced above. They intend to make an example of this poor guy, and it will take a competent lawyer, some groveling, and a hefty fine to make this go away. Why give them the ammunition to do this by posting the @#$*! picture on the web? Someone had to have blown the whistle, but they will never know who. The statute of "making terrorist threats" is a lot broader than the modern definition of blowing up things. [in most states] A local man here threatened to do bodily harm to a neighbor, and he was charged with assault and "making terroristic threats". With this case, if it makes it to a jury, he should be OK. If his case just gets a review from the bench, who knows. I'll cross my fingers for him.
