Pitted and/or faded black window trim? relevant question?

Did a search under "pitting window trim" and found no result for how to handle pitted and faded black window trim. Hope it is a relevant subject regarding detailing. Found a few products and how-to videos dealing with restoring the color back to black. None that I found show how to deal with the pitting in the rubber. Any help would be appreciated.

looks like attached if I loaded correctly. Note lower left hand corner.

If the actual rubber has rotted away or is damaged in some other way it will have to be replaced.

And to keep the new rubber in good shape dress it with silicone, or one of the detailing supplies designed to keep rubber supple and protected from UV damage.
