hey mike and every one else. i was going to put this in my last post (about my fail with claying) but i figured different topic so here it is. Like i said a am somewhat new so i have had variable tips. So first all of the products i am talking about are being used on a DA polisher. And on 2 cars a 2012 chevy equinox color is "slate green" (looks more like dark grey to me from most angles) it is in bad condition there are some scratches that definitely need wet sanding (i am going to leave that to my bro-in-law next time he comes to visit)he used to do auto body now he actually is a train mechanic. There are also some light scratches (hoping meguiars ultra cut compound or ultimate compound will work). Has alot of contaminants (hence my last post about clay but lets pretend i figure the clay problem out. OK car #2 is a 2013 Toyota corolla color is like a silvery grey (don't know the name) as scratches go its very good only one or 2 very light ones. Contaminants same as above definitely needs clay. Ok now the products i have are a DA polisher, whole bunch of diff microfiber, set of Chemical Guys Hexlogic 5.5 in pads, Meguiar's ultra cut compound, ultimate compound, ultimate polish, mirror glaze show car glaze, gold class paste wax, paint protect liquid, then.. Mothers clay kit (clay and california gold instant detailer), mothers MTECH instant detailer, Griots garage best of show wax (liquid not paste). Ok so with all that what would your "plan of attack" be (what products and order you would use). On the 2 cars i described above. This is for every one reading not JUST mike. i have my own idea. i also have asked my bro-in-law (as he has done auto body and mechanic work his whole life) but he isnt near by to show me and i think he wants me to learn on my own doesn't give me that much info (just enough so i dont destroy the car). but i have always got good opinions here so i wanna see what every one thinks. one other question if i used the meguiars ultra cut or ultimate compound on a light scratch i would just tape off a lil area where i scratch is right not do the whole panel how much of a area should i tape around scratch. THANKS for reading i know its alot but a appreciate all the info i have gotten here so far so THANKS ahead of time Feed back please

Typical steps: Wash -> Clay -> Compound/Polish -> Seal/Wax. These are done as-needed, so plans are only useful based on the cars current condition, and then you would use test spots to evaluate the condition you want the entire car to be in.

1) You said you need to clay both, so that's taken care of.
2) Do a test spot to see if just polish is needed vs. a two-step compounding and polishing session. Apply that technique to the entire car.
3) Use whatever last step product(LSP). Try Best of Show Wax on one vehicle and Gold Class Paste or the Paint Protect on the other, then evaluate which you like more based on it's characteristics. Layer them if you wish. It's all up to you and there's no real best answer.

It's easy to get overwhelmed with the ample amount of products and knowledge available so easily, which is why you want to tinker a bit with your process until you find what works for you on your vehicles and your schedule.
