Hey there everyone, so I have done extensive research on plasti-dip vs. vinyl wrapping and am still scratching my head...is plasti-dip too good to be true or does it actually work and not harm the paint?
If I were to professionally get my car dipped vs. professionally vinyl wrapped, the results seem very similar, although I've never felt the difference between the two, can anyone chime in on these questions.

Thanks

Probably more than 99% of people do it without any damage. In some cases, it can dull or remove the clear coat if the car has been painted in the last 8 months or the clear did not bond correctly at the factory or during its last paint job. Otherwise, you will have no issue. Here is what mine was after 4 months.

I have plasti dipped my rims and also certain parts of my car. I have yet to have something bad happen to my pait. I have only done some trime peaces and It comes off very easily unless you have some paint chips, which it sometimes stick into it. but other then that its a great product

did my grill rims bumpers handles interior parts It is great stuff for a quick change in look had my big chrome 22s black for about 4 months peeled em 100% off in less than 10 minutes if it does anything it cleans the paint by pulling the stuck on contaminates

Home Depot has it in aerosol, by me at least. Go to dipyourcar.com.

My car is wrap ing vinyl for the last 3 years and my engine cover has been plasti-diped for 3 years.

one thing i will say is i removed my car dipped peices about 5 months ago detailing it alot during the time since, and im Still finding little peices left inbetween the cracks of the window trim n stuff easy to remove once you see it but never get it all

i saw armorall has there OWN plastidip stuff as "spray on bug guard" soon there will be alot of brands

I've PlastiDipped the emblems, chrome wheels and rear lower bumper on my Z multiple times and never had a problem with the stuff. It can be a little aggravating trying to get the stuff out of cracks and crevices, but overall it's very easy to use and pretty much fool proof. And remember, if you don't like the stuff, it peels right off. Here's some pictures of my car to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Goo Gone on a Q-tip and there you go. Out of the cracks and crevices.

Also, once you think it is on thick enough, add another coat. If it's too thin, it's gets difficult to peel.

:iagree:That happened to me the last time I did my wheels. When I went to go take it off, the spots that had thick, heavy coverage came off no problem, but the spots that were lacking that coverage didn't peel up with the rest of the dip. A spritz or two of my CG Hybrid V7 and a microfiber towel got it right off. Lesson learned. If you spray at least 2-3 heavy coats, not so much to cause runs, the stuff peels off real easy.

You can use plasti-dip directly to paint? Do you need to have a fresh wax on the paint and about how pong will it last before it needs redone?

It needs to be applied to bare paint. It will not stick to wax. It should last a couple years assuming you don't get rock chips etc.

Is there anything special you need to do to care for it? Just wash and go?
