plastics problem - not usng right product ?

in the photos you can see the plastic treatments i used streaking or running down the plastic. I am not sure if its running due to washing or rain or just not a good product. Its not summer here so it isn't heat.

I have used meguiars black trim sponge which didnt actually colour the plastic much blacker so i then used CRC Plastic and rubber doctor which looks great when it goes on but runs. Both products have great before and after photos of the mirrors being coated and i think its a similar plastic along the arches and the sills on the mini. What product works well for that ? Is a glossy or matt black better for those plastics ?

Hey Paul,

Have a look at this thread by Mike. I have tried many many products over the years on black plastic trim & as far as restoring it goes I doubt you'll find anything that will do it better. The science behind Solution Finish is fascinating & explained in this thread too. For new palstic trim I use CarPro DLux but the Mini is past that now.

thanks Aaryn, i had a good read of that article and it is interesting how it works. Trying to order it may be an issue though as here i need to order US$100 and Amazon wont ship it to NZ.
We can get carpro dlux locally from detaildepot but its a tiny amount and I have 3 cars and a work van that i want to get around to detailing so the 12oz bottle of Solution Black seems the best buy.
I opened a youpost forwarding account but havent used it yet, now may be a good time to try it out !

thanks - i just saw your post after replying to the other one, i will check them out, i can get the mothers here but not wolfgang. From the looks of the messy streaks i have its going to need a proper clean and the mothers will be useful for that
