It says to apply with a terry cloth but would it be better to apply with a foam applacator pad?

You can use it either way; I have, and I did not see a difference in my results.
Wolfgang has some nice products here for keeping lenses new, too. Just fyi!! I coated mine with the UV resistant stuff after I used the PlastX.

I've used it with terry, a foam applicator, and an 4" orange LC pad on my PC. They all clean it. Look out for the little nubbins or whatever they are on the lens and stay off the paint. For the size involved, I have to say use a terry applicator pad or folded towel for the cushioning. Did I mention the (^%&^%^%% nubbins on the lens. They will tear a pad (or fingernail) if hit wrong
Worked very well on my 14 year old stress cracked BMW lenses
 
I'm curious if anyone has compared this with the Plexus plastic cleaners?? I've used Plastx to protect my headlights, but have never needed it to "clean" them up.
 
I used Plexus on my boat worked really well
 
If your headlights are in perfect condition, can't your just go over the headlight with wax?
 
I don't see why not...Are those headlights so neglected that you need a cutting pad?

PlastX is for extremely damaged lights. (ie. fogging, hazing, buildup) I have used it on three vehicles that were neglected...not mine of course and they came back to new. Use a terry cloth and then spray with Plexus when finished hand buff and you are done.
