I found a 20" 720P LCD at Costco for $300 that we're going to used just for gaming. I plan on ordering so that it will arrive in time for the 17th of this month AKA Wii time.

The graphics are no where near the PS3. What's selling the Wii is the interaction as well as price point. The ability to download retro games is a hit too.

It comes down to what you want. IMHO, if you can afford a PS3, you can get a Wii also.

Sony is already losing more than 500.00 on each unit sold. Thats correct, they are sold under value and makeup on game sales. The WII , come on its Nintendo's last stance at console wars, and they cannot even make a joystick that doesnt go flying across the room. (can you say recall, they did). Soon you will see Nintendo offering its lineup on Sony just like Sega.

Was about to post that, Sony is losing money on each unit, the big profit is made on software (games, accessories etc). Between Sony and Microsoft, I don't believe anyone can really compete on their level. Back in college I had to do a huge report on business analysis for Samsung, who appeared to be the only legit threat to Sony, but still do not think they could overtake Sony.

Did anybody see the pics of the Wii controllers impaling tv sets from being swung or comming apart LOL?

A buddy of mine had a PS3 for like a week and it shot craps! He called up Sony and told them what it was doing and they sent him a new one.

yeah, there's a huge difference in the two, as with xbox also. One of these days I'll have to upgrade to PS3 or Xbox360, maybe the end of the year when I get my hi-def tv. I'm not a big gamer, but I like playing some games with my daughters, namely Halo2. They can't touch me!!!

I bought a PS3 for my nephew for X-mas. I paid $880 for a 60gig and 1 game.

How many here use these game machines that are over 35 years of age?

I ask because a 40 year old friend of mine told me I should have kept the PS3 for myself. I had no clue there was such an adult interest.

I'm waiting a while before deciding what to replace my aging PS2 with. Currently there just aren't many games for the PS3, it's very expensive, and I'd like to wait and see how the whole HD-DVD vs. BlueRay format war turns out before commiting to either format. The Wii looks interesting, although it'd be nice if it were hi-def. 360...I've never been a big fan of MS products.

BluRay will loose in this battle. It is easier for people to associate “HD-DVD” to (Hi-Def)!

Wii graphics are very similar to the Nintendo GC graphics or less than PS2. There are over 20 games currently available for the Wii at this point but few of them seem to be "quality" games that would offer interest in replay. For comparison, the Wii is a "480P" resolution system or barely better than standard definition TV. The PS3 is a mostly "720P" and "1080P" resolution system or "true Hi Definition." The difference in picture quality is night and day.

Negative the graphics are superior to the GC and PS2! Why would Nintendo put something out into production that isn’t any better than there last system? They wouldn’t! It doesn’t matter that PS3 is 720 or1080P resolution if you don’t have the proper television. You would be defeating the propose of the true gaming experience. And yes I know not all can afford a sweet tv…I am just making a point!

In 5 years, Sony will be just where Ninetendo is now, if Sony loses with the PS3. The launch game titles, and forthcoming games are the WORST in history, and I cannot believe Sony is making up through their launch titles.

AT LEAST M$ makes some of their games.. GOW for instance.. Unfortunatly, M$ will end up on top.. I....... cannot believe I just said that!

I hope that doesn't happen either. Do not get me wrong they make bad @$$ stuff but competition is good for the economy and "we" the consumer. We will see what happens

Trust me, Sony isn't going anywhere the money they lose on the PS3 is nothing compared to their other streams of revenue. Highly doubt they are going to lose with the PS3, all launches are usually just "ok" compared to what comes along after developers really learn the programming. Same thing happened with PS1 and PS2, and with XBOX and XBOX 360, 360 had an early jump on them so developers know more on how to program with it's hardware right now.

I made lots of money on the PS3 I sold on ebay, Ive been a Nintendo guy for all my life but I just can not get the Wii my friend has it and its nothing for me, and even though I am not a big fan of MS I got a X360 and love it. But im sure ill get a Wii sooner or later once my friend Mario gets a game in his name

While I cannot tell you which dvd will win, heck both are relatively small in size in relation to the original dvd and could infact both lose if clients do not find the "significant" benefit to each. Can you say Laserdisc or Beta before it...

What I can tell you as the specs of the PS2 and the Wii are more similar than one would suspect. This tells you what will be obtainable over the lifetime of the console. The PS3 is so powerful, it could actually run several reactors meaning most PC's are weak. Sony can lose the house, and would be game for the next installment. Nintendo cannot wage another console war, they offered it to their stockholders, they are at the last offering before moving to software and portability stations. (handhelds)

And as for opening software .. come on, even the most jaded gamer will tell you the ending software is much more engrossing and enjoyable then the first developers issue. With Sony and Microsoft buying or looking for "exclusive windows of release" the Wii can only continue to be supported with inhouse games. Theres only so many Donkey Kongs and Mario's before gamers want something different ....

let me checxk on prices. i know when my buddy was over seas (guam) he was selling them from $1000. but he was also putting like 200 games on them too. give me a list of games you want and i will talk to him about getting one and a price

I just noticed that these are now 599.00 and 499.00.

I just saw a Wii go for 386.00 on eBay.

Hyped killed the PS3.......along with price. I've never seen it drop this fast before.
