Are people talking about dark streak marks or greasy looking holograms that i notice in the sun?

What do we call the greasy looking holograms?

I have just finished detailing a dark grey Seat Ibiza using Menz PF2500 and noticed that after working a section and wiping off the polish, there were what you have described as greasy looking holograms.

How are they caused and what what are they called?Feed back please

With my limited knowledge, there are few factors that may cause what we call "faint hologram".

1. Polishing oil from previous polish stage
2. Apply too much QD

Maybe there are more I just don't remember them right now.

I had streaks from Black Diamond Sealant. Went over the spot with wax.
All gone. I never happens with real wax.

Always IPA before sealant or coating. Problem solved.:props:

I have been advised by paint people not to put alcohol on car paint. I QD the entire car before applying the sealant and there was not polish used recently.

I think that the cause for the streaking may be removing the sealant too soon. ie not letting really dry up.

I think those greasey streaks must be from left over silicone oils. Waxing over blackfire does remove them. Also got greasey streaks with UPP but were removed after waxing with p21s 100%. Nattys blue leaves greasey material behind. All duragloss products seam to wipe off grease free.

Thats why a lot of these greasey sealants always look better after the first car wash, greasy marks are washed away.

Are you implying, or do you know for sure, that the products you mention above: Have silicone oils?

Hi lkotsios...

The following are what I consider to be some of Duragloss' "QD's":

-Duragloss Detail Spray #521
-Duragloss Fast Clean & Shine #921
-Duragloss Aquawax #951
-Duragloss Ultimate Detail Spray (Aerosol) # 265

Question:
-Are Duragloss' polyaminodimethyl-siloxanes: Silicone oils?

:)

Only some type of oil can produce greasey marks, I am assuming its silicone unless you think its olive oil?

Aren't you the one that is attempting to make the distinction between Duragloss' QD-products,
and those of other brands, having "greasy" silicone-oils, or not?!?!

Help me out here, I am not a chemist maybe you are, in your opinion what is the common denominator in so many of these detailing products that leaves greasey marks?
