Hi people! I am new at this forum, and I got a car not so long ago. Now I need some hint about choosing an oil cooler for my Toyota Corolla.
Dorman Auto Trans Oil Cooler 918-208 | Car Part Kings do you think one can fit? A mechanic said me that it was a good model but I'd like to know the opinion of other people who know cars well and are not personally interested.

Hi Dave,

If you are really interested in knowing if the above part you linked to at a commercial website will work for your Toyota Corolla, the BEST thing to do would be to join a forum for Toyota Corollas and ask your question on that forum.

Forums are great and there's a topical forum for just about any thing you can think of.

A first post like the one you made here looks like Spam. I'm not saying it is Spam but it looks like spam to most seasoned forum veterans and it does break forum rules.

With a quick Google search using the search terms,

toyota corolla forum

I found three Toyota forums where you'll get better answers faster than asking them on a car detailing forum.

Now if you have questions on how to detail your car you have found the best forum for that topic.

:)

Why would a Corolla need an oil cooler? They're pretty much indestructible.
I think that was an odd attempt at spam.

That's my guess.... I still like to be polite and give people the benefit of the doubt.

All we have to do is watch his next few posts and his posting history will reveal his real purpose for joining this forum.

You can learn a LOT about a person just by reading their posting history. I do it all the time, especially when I see a forum member that always appears to have an agenda on this forum. Been doing this long enough that it's pretty easy to see through most problem people.

He might be hauling something small, and adding an oil cooler is a good idea to stay on the safe side. I've seen a Corolla or Camry hauling small trailers. I love Toyota their mechanical engineering is top notch but when it comes to interior ehh not so good.

Aside from the Supra, and 4Runner, i do not like any Toyota. period. Same old crap but in new body styles. Strictly a point A to point B car.

In today economy, a car that can do that is a good car and hence that's why their saying is "Let's go to places".

I wouldn't have a problem with Toyota if they wouldn't be using the same 1.8L in 99-2014 corollas. The same old 2.4 in the Rav4's and Scion TC. To me, a car manufacturer has to change everything when debuting a new model, not just looks.

We have an 08 Sienna 3.5 V6 when we got it at 70K miles and put in 100K miles in less than 8 months this bad boy still going strong. The Camry has the same engine and can't imagine the amount of power it has being a smaller and less weight car. I wouldn't even get a Corolla.

At the end of the day is still Japanese engineering ;)

My father has an 09 Sienna, no problem either. Like I said, it's really the use of same engines over n over that grinds my gears.

Gotta' say it's a new one for sure. Wouldn't think of a Corolla needing a oil cooler. Blown perhaps, might need an intercooler. Im the MAN

And speaking of a Corolla. When I was 15 I rolled a 71 Corolla wagon down in Kissimmee on the Turnpike a total of 10 times counting end over and side over.

Last end over roll it spun on it's nose and threw me out then did another side over, but managed not to land on me. They said if I'd stayed inside I would certainly not be here. Roof was crushed down in the floor on the drivers side. (No seat belt saved my life.) Not to mention one more roll and it'd landed on top of me!

My Dad otoh was inside being thrown all over the car. Crushed two vertebra and fractured his neck. (Said had he been wearing a seatbelt he would have been unharmed.)

How's that for off topic!?!?

Mike,

I run a couple of sportbike forums and do the same thing. We're pretty wide open but occasionally you still have to give someone the boot. Of course they come back under a new IP, new username, etc. . . but their writing style gives them away every time. We finally got a handle on most of the spambots too, which has been really nice and kept my moderation duties to a minimum. If I never see another Nike or Viagra spam it will still be too soon!
