I have a brand new 2014 F-150 XLT (Blue Jeans color). It only has 500 miles on it but I am going to give it a full detail in the next few weeks. I spoke on the phone with a guy from AG and I ordered the DP Universal Clay Kit, Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion, Pinnacle Liquid Souveran, and Collinite 845.

I obviously plan to clay first with the DP clay kit. After this I am unsure what to do. I am doing this all by HAND using the Pinnacle Polishin Pal. I have the white and red CCS Spot buff pads.

At this point I am wondering if I should just clay and then do the Collinite. I don't want to do any damage to the paint as I am fairly new to this all.

Please help!

Clay, cleansing lotion, either of the waxes. There may be someone here near you, where are you located?

Hmm..the liquid Souveran and 845 are a little redundant. I would use one or the other but no need for both in my opinion.

You might really want to consider a DA, that truck has a lot of paint! You will not regret having a machine to get the job done.

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran, and Collinite 845.
If I were to use both of these Waxes, back-to-back...
I'd be apt to apply the Collinite product first; wait an
hour, or so; and then apply the Pinnacle product.

But, then again:
Either product can be used as a "stand alone".

If you haven't already, I would recommend reading this guide for Collinite 845 before you apply it. (It's awesome by the way)

I am currently in Flagstaff, AZ but will be moving back down to Phoenix, AZ in a week and a half.

Yes...I bought the Collinite about a week after the Liquid Souveran. I want the durability of Collinite - this is a daily driver and that is what is important to me.

A DA will be down the road when I get a job (I graduate college in a week), but right now I have no cash for one. I may buy one with graduation money...we will see.

Thanks for the info!

I just want to let everyone know...I did a baggy test on the truck today....the paint is really in great shape (I would hope so for a new vehicle). No swirls in the paint from what I can see.

In this case would you guys still recommend clay bar followed by cleansing lotion and then the Collinite?

Clay and iron-x even though its new there can still be contaminants.

Yep, hopefully you have the light clay? You probably dont need to scrub at all. Very light, then soak with iron-x then rinse, then paint cleanse then 845. Good to go

Great thanks! I have the DP Universal Clay kit which I think is technically a "medium" clay. I am reading Mike Phillip's "The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine" and I am learning a lot. I will say this...detailing gets expensive! I think I have spent $500+ on all my detailing stuff thus far.

I hear you. I think I hit $2,000 with last night's order and I started ordering last month.

By the way...the more I think about this the more I am thinking it is a good idea to buy a Griot's. Depending on how much graduation money I get, I may buy a Griot's (in fact I would say it is about 95% likely haha).

Wooops, yeah. I was at work typing on my phone trying to hurry. Iron-X first then clay bar. SORRY
