Hi
I'm new here. I'm not a detailer, just a weekend warrior working on my own vehicles & trailers.

I have a 2009 burgundy Hyundai Santa Fe LTD. It has a few light swirl marks but the paint is still very shiny & beads water.

I'm looking to do a 2 step process- Polish & then seal.

I just ordered the Griots 6" DA polisher & LC 5.5" CCS orange, green & red pads from AG. (also got the 5" backing plate) They should be here in the next few days.

Which polish & pads do you recommend?
Is this paint hard or soft?

Welcome to the forums pal. I have a Sonata and used the following and they ALL worked well.

Megs D300, I know its a compound and not a polish :dblthumb2:
Menzerna 1500 and 4000
Megs 205
Megs Ultimate Polish

Used with the Megs MF pads also LC White and Orange. The paint responded to all of them.

Good luck! :props:

I use Megs UP and I really enjoy it...plus it wont cost you a arm and a leg plus I also use Megs M105, M205.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Anyone try durogloss?.
Been reading about it here on the forums.

I'm not sure how experienced you are with a dual action polisher but Mike Phillips has done an extraordinary job writting these so please have a look.

Duragloss offers some great products.

Duragloss #501 is formulated with a fine abrasive and works nicely in removing oxidation, minor swirls, grime etc. This product works well with orange, green, white, and gray foam pads.

I was actually quite surprised how well it performed.

For a great all around fine polish that has a great cut and can finish to a superb gloss try Menzerna Finishing Polish - SF 4000 – Super Finish Polish (PO106FA)

Sealants

For a daily driven vehicle, I like the idea of an AIO product topped by a pure wax or sealant. If the swirls are light, give DuraGloss 501 a try. With a medium-cut pad it works wonders and puts down enough protection to devote your second step to either a beauty wax or a long term durability product, whichever you desire. 501 topped by Collinite 845 has recently become my chosen DD two-step. A more aggressive DD combo when needed is Meguiar's D151 topped by 845.

Have you heard of optimum hyper polish? It's an extremely versatile product that I actually just used, and had great results with.

You can use it to cut if you have it on a cutting pad, and use it to finish or polish on a polishing pad.

Also, best benefit of all, no dusting :)

Those are some good suggestions.

I like the Durogloss because I've used it on my RV. Never thought about it on my car. I would not have to keep too many products on hand.

I watched the video on the Optimum Hyper Polish & that has me interested as well. One product, many uses, no film residue, no splatter, just change the type of pad.

Decisions! decisions!

I've used Meg's UC to remove swirls/scratches lately with great results!

A little correction,Duragloss not durogloss, peace man :),
Back to topic, duragloss 501 then 601/105 have great result...
