I have been debating buying PO85RD or 106FA for quite some time now. Is a final polishing step make that much of a difference? Do most of you even notice it, with your scrutinizing eyes? I just don't know if I should drop $40 or not on one bottle of this. Any feedback would be awesome.

Depends on the paint you're using it on, ime. On my car's factory paint (red) I didn't see any appreciable difference between finishing with M205 & 85rd. However, the repaint on my hood is a much softer clear and there was a big difference there in favor of the 85rd.

I just picked up both of these products...well...was shipped the OLD label Super Finish. From what I was told 106FA and PO85RD finshes to the same gloss, but the only difference is that 106FA has more abrasives in it.

just stick with 106FA, its more versatile and finishes the same as PO85RD, the only way you will notice a difference with the PO85RD after 106FA is if you jewel it with a rotary, and even then the difference for the amount of work is minimal.

Just my opinion, and my: "in the eye of the beholder" viewpoint...

-PO85RD does seem to imbue the ceramic/scratch-resistant harder CC's, by refinement...with a little more clarity, as it were...Thus allowing the hue of the BC to shine through more thoroughly.

Best used with a rotary...but a RA will suffice, IMO.

This 'extra-step': Jeweling...Is a personal choice, as is the purchasing of products to do so...I'll 'jewel' every once in a while. I've even attempted this technique with other
very-mild-abrasives-laden products (ex.: 3M Ultrafina)

:)

I just ordered the 85RD from another site as I saw AG was out of it. I have to try it to see what all the talk is about. I have BMW BSM and I'm thinking it may be a step up from the Wolgang glaze I finished with. Although, I did get an EXCELLENT result from the Wolfgang twins. When I try it I will post my opinion ( from a rookies point of view). For ease of use, cost, and a great result, the Wolfgang twins worked great for me

I would agree with Bob but I think it works great with all tools with the right pads and good technique.

If you had to choose just one, then get the SF 4000

Here's a guide... might as well start getting used to the new names...

PG 1000 – PowerGloss Compound (S34A)
SI 1500 – Super Intensive Polish (PO83)
IP 2000 – Intensive Polish (PO91E) no photo
PF 2500 – Power Finish Polish (PO203) no photo
FF 3000 – Final Finish Polish (PO85U)
SF 4000 – Super Finish Polish (PO106FA)
SF 4500 – Super Finish Polish (PO85RD)

If you're doing a lot of show cars, especially dark colors and custom paint jobs add the SF 4500 to your arsenal.

On the new season of our TV show, Menzerna USA is a sponsor and I show their products quite a bit on some very cool cars. I always have confidence that I'll get show car results when I use Menzerna.

Mike,
Where on that Menzerna scale would M105/205 and D300/301 fall? I'm not sure if the grade of scratch removal listed on the labels of the Meg's products would coincide with the Menzerna numbers or not. If that makes sense.

Where would Mothers ProLine, and 3M comparable products fall on that Menzerna scale? Perhaps these products aren't best suited for the ceramic cc's. I don't know...which is why I'm inquiring. The four products I've mentioned, I have. Thanks!

Don't know if I'd need to purchase the entire line or just a few of the finishing polishes. Budget's sort of tight. I'd rather not have to buy anymore if what I have will work. I've had a few Caddy owners ask me about working on their cars and wasn't sure if I should just get them just in case.

I agree that unless you are doing really dark colored show cars (especially black), 85rd is not worth the time and effort. As for a daily driver.....ahhhhh....NO.

If you already have the M105 add the SI 1500 – Super Intensive Polish (PO83) and the SF 4000 – Super Finish Polish (PO106FA) and you're good to go...
