Pocket Knives

Kershaw Ken Onion 1670 for me. Gotta love a well made American knife. Easy, fast opening.

I ended up with a Boker Police Model, too. It seems to open even faster than the Kershaw for some reason.

Kershaw Blur Black/Black. Great knife for the price range. The grip material destroys my pockets though.

Cheapo Gerber Paraframe. Keep it sharp and use it/carry it everyday!

Killr beware knives are more addicting than detailing supplies. I carry spyderco almost exclusively and over the years have attained traded almost 50 of those little buggers.

I think spyderco offers some of the best blade steels in very ergonomic patterns with great prices.

I would recommend the Caly3 in either G-10 handles or Carbon Fiber handles. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions on the subject.

Ah! Thanks for posting, I had to look up that knife. It reminded me of the first quality knife I ever owned (besides the Swiss army knife my Grandpa gave me for my 9th b-day). I bought it from a friend in middle school for like $10, apparently he had no idea what he sold me. Long gone now, as I remember it was similar to Spyderco Endura 4. Now I have to buy one for old time sake. :props:

I have 2 Spyderco's that I use for work. I love em.

Knives can be expensive!

I have few Spyderco's, Boker Magnum knives. I like the Spyderco's the best though, I also have a Smith and Wesson SWAT knife which is very lightweight. I have a Delica Lightweight, Endura Stainless and the Police model. I like the Byrd models but my next Spyderco will probably be a Military or a Civilian (curved S blade).

My Boker has a spring assist opening and the blade is okay, not as durable as the Spyderco's IMHO....

The Smith and Wesson SWAT knife has been pretty durable and super lightweight for it's size and I grab it a lot. I use all my knives and they show it.

Have fun.

I forgot to mention I have a few Swiss Army Knives, I think 3 of them, a medium duty multi (can't remember name, camper maybe), a two bladed and of course a little one with scissors and toothpicks et al.

I have a spyderco Delica 4, smith & wesson SWAT and theyare both great, but I would say the spyderco is the best. I also agree that knives are a very addictive thing, once you buy one you will want another and won't be able to stop. I recommend the spyderco.

Just go to the blade show with me in June. Thousands of knives to choose from. You can spernd a dollar or thousands. I went last year and was blown away.

Blade Magazine - BLADE Show

And yes, like someone here said it is adicting to own knives. I personally love auto (switchblades) knives. There are some very nice one handed assistied opening knives that are legal to cary. Switchblades are illegal in most areas unless you only have 1 arm.

The Knoxville Expo Center here in Knoxville has a Gun and Knife Show at least several times a year. Always cool to go to and see the many guns and knives available from different vendors. They just had one this weekend, the next one will be in May.

Are you on the spyderco forum or bladeforums.com? There is someone over on the spyderco forum who has a rotary polisher as their avatar and I was wondering if I would ever run into them...

No sorry I'm not on any of the knife forums

my carry knife is a Gerber Torch I

don't know much about knives, would actually like to get a nicer easier to open & close knife....any suggestions? I know its like asking what's the best wax, but just would like to see what you guys suggest for an everyday carry...

I've got a SOG Flash II that I keep in my interior box. It is an assisted opening knife and that makes it easy for me to open and close with one hand. I've never liked liner locks, so I stay away from them. The only real requirement I have is that my detailing knife MUST be a tanto point. There are just too many times I've needed a flat edge to either get under a sticker on a window or some other purpose to go any other route.

The Boker Magnum is a good knife too. Tanto point, low cost, and the best part is that it isn't hard to convert it to an automatic. ;) I bought a spring off Ebay to replace in mine and now it is a push button automatic knife. They are legal in Utah, so I don't have to worry. I keep that one in my golf bag. I believe you can even buy them already modified for less than $40 bucks if you shop around. I just don't know what the legalities of automatic knives are in your state.

I never leave home without my CRKT M16-14SFA Carson Design. This knife is a beast.

I've probably got somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 knives (pockets, hunting, skinning, etc) from the cheapo price range to the $300+ price range (not as many of those as I'd like). I've been collecting since I was a little boy. For EDC, I pretty much stick to things with pocket clips, krayton or plastic handles, one hand openers with thumb studs or holes. It's not uncommon for me to have two knives on me - one "good" one for me, and a cheap one for doing nasty things (like opening boxes for instance or letting a co worker use). The three or four one I carry for general purpose work are a base model Benchmade Mini Pika I picked up a few years ago for $25, A Cold Steel Voyager plain drop point, Kershaw Leek, Spyderco Delica, and a Spyderco Endura. I pretty much have all these sitting on my nighstand and carry one for a few weeks before I trade it for one of the others. A lot of my knives are older model pocket knives passed down or given as gifts or purchased with money I'd saved from cutting grass. I don't normally carry/use most of these due to perfectibility or sentimental value.

I will second (or third) the sentiments of an earlier poster who said that knives are addicting. :)

EDIT: Thought I should mention that for the longest while after I received it from you guys, I carried that Sarge knife (red handled with FLEX on it). That's a pretty darn good knife. Very utilitarian, easy to sharpen, and it holds a pretty nice edge.
