Was curious if doing a three step on my work truck is a bad move before getting lettering?!??! Or should a wait... get lettering first.... then 3 step it. Any ideas?

Correcting it should be okay, but I would wait until after the lettering is done to apply a LSP. I would think that the lettering would adhere better to bare paint than one that's protected.

I have the same dilemma. We have an 04 Crown Vic getting some new striping and it really needs some care. The Company doing the striping said they were going to strip/prep the sides so not to bother with any wax or sealant. I'm just going to remove the swirls and old impressions and glaze it. But, that's just me.

Seeing the question people as is how to correct around lettering/pinstripes and not damage them, I would think correct first then letters/stripes then LSP would be the best.

Then you don't have to tape them off and hand work around them to keep them from damage.

You are on the right track B. You dont want any waxes or sealants under the decals as they just wont bond correctly. I just striped 15 Crown Vics and just did a real good IPA wipedown on the areas to be striped. Of course, I will in no way be correcting 15 police cars but the decals went on easy on clean paint.
