My son has a black subaru that's about 2 years old. It has never been polished. I am guessing it has little to no swirls because he takes it through a touchless about once a month. Anyway it did not have any 6 months ago when I saw it last. I hear that subaru has soft paint. I have also read that Meg 205 will mar soft black paint. What polish should I use? Optimum Polish II. Optimum Finish, BlackFire SRC? Any other suggestions and with what kind of pad(s)? I have a D/A.

Thanks

If you know that m205 will marr soft paint, try ultimate compound

SMAT products just don't perform too well on soft paint, but you never know until you do a test spot. You can try products from Wolfgang and menzerna. They both do good on soft paints.

I'm sorry that if M205 mar the paint then UC will definitely make it even worse.

Subaru paint is somewhat soft but not so soft that it's troublesome to finish. There are finer polishes than M-205 for sure but I've never had a problem finishing Subaru paints with 205.

Optimum finish polish is awesome on all paints from hard to soft as a finishing polish and will level light swirls too with it's non diminishing super fine abrasives. It can get a bit lumpy if it sits around too long though so if you end up going with Optimum finish and won't be doing more than one car I suggest going with the smallest size bottle.
