Polish- less darkening effect

I used Megs Ultimate Polish topped with 845 awhile back and it really darkened my pyrite mica paint on my Toyota. I wasn't a fan. Ha It literally looked wet. Just too much. Can someone recommend a polish with very light correction ability that won't darken paint like Ultimate?

I do like the wet look on black, red, etc, but this seriously reminded me of a wet dog. Not much pop- just wet (and it's a new truck).
 
Did you take into account that it may just be
the Collinite #845 that's causing these overly
wet and darkening effects---effects that, from
what I interpret you as saying: are not, (at least
for your taste), appreciable characteristics for
this "color" of paint?

Not only could the 845 be causing the darkening effect, but the polish could too.

Even on a new(-ish) vehicle, swirls will cause the paint to look lighter. Once the clear is corrected and those swirls are gone, the paint will indeed look darker. I could really see this happening with a color like what you have on your truck.

When I picked up my wife's new crimson Toyota SUV it was swirled badly by the dealer prep guys. Once corrected, the color looked noticeably different; much deeper and darker.
 
Yeah, Im betting that any polish that does its job is going to "darken" your paint. If you dont like that look then what I suggest is not following any of the advice found on these forums. LOL It sounds like I am being sarcastic but I am not. Do not polish your car, dont wash it with a 2bm and dont wax it. The color will quickly go back to the way you like it. Those dark grey cars are all like that. You can get come crazy results polishing them when they are swirled out, almost as much as a black car. LETS SEE SOME PICS!!??
 
Blackfire Crystal Sealant gave my car a harder looking glassy shine vs a wet deep look maybe you should try that instead of Collinite.

I like the wetter look on my Palladium Silver car so I topped BFCS with BF Wet Diamond Poly spray and it gave me that wet look I wanted. Also avoid any carnauba based waxes if you don't want that wet look.

Hey, Bob. The UP was applied by hand, so not much/if any correction was done. Yeah at first I attributed the wet look to the 845. But I clayed and applied 476 as my next coat a month later and it was back to the non-wet look. More of an icy-gray than wet-brown. I liked it much better. If anything, I would have expected the 476 to look "wetter" than the 845. When that didn't happen, I began to suspect the UP as the initial culprit.

Yup, will likely go back to sealer or coating.

This is how I like it (after ULW). I don't have pics of the UP/845 combo. It looks really nice after 476, also. It was that one time after UP/845 that it was wet looking.

And the deal is- I'd like to do a full correction when I get my GG6 (ordered!). But I'm trying to avoid the UP-like results. Sure, maybe it was the 845, but I have a hunch UP also contributed.
 
Why 845 causing "lightning" effect on my vehicles marathon blue/ soul red? That is the reason I apply 845 strictly on roof, and 915 all around. I kind like darkening effect:)

I anticipated a lighter effect from 845. That's why I'm suspecting UP as the darkening culprit (polishing oils).

I was just going to ask if you did any IPA wipe down after using UP, not sure what polishing oils are in that product if any.

IMHO:
You wouldnt really know this for sure unless you
would have performed another polishing-session
with the UP...prior to the application of the #476.

Collinite will provide a deep, dark, rich, wet appearance. If that isn't what you were going for, my recommendation is Liquid or Paste Souveran.

Interesting. In my experience 845 + UP = dark and wet, and 476 with no UP was not as dark/wet and more glassy. Based on what you're suggesting (and others), that would make UP the cause of the darkening on my paint as far as I can tell. I liked the 476 by itself. That's why I was asking for a polish with less oils than UP.
 
Sounds like it's the LSP. What other LSP's have you used besides 845?

Are you looking for a more glassy look?

M205 has less polishing oils. As does HD Polish and Pinnacle finishing polish. All these are finishing polishes.

I love Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish. As well as their Advanced Compound.

Yeah I'm looking for glassy. Similar to or more-so than ULW. The only time it's looked too dark is after the UP/845 combo (845 alone was fine in the past). That's why I was asking about polishes with less oils. I've heard UP is pretty loaded up. And I applied UP by hand, so the darkening wasn't from correction, I guarantee that.

I've just used ULW, 845, and 476 as LSP's.
