I know this question has been asked various ways but I am still confused and just want to understand this as I ready my car for the winter.

Can I use the same product to remove wax and sealant as I do to remove polish residue? I'm talking products like Hi-Temp Prep Wash, DuPont's PrepSol, Acrysol Silicone Remover, Menzerna Top Inspercation, etc.? Can they all be used to do both processes?

Second part of this question is, why do you use those products instead of just IA, do they have cleaning advantages or other advantages over IA?

Thanks for the help,
Howard

i couldnt tell you about the difference between polish residue, and wax/sealant properties, but as far as i know, IPA wont remove wax or sealant, but removes the residue because of the alcohol dissolving and quickly evaporating on the surface.

some people use the top inspection and other things to remove the leftovers before sealing or waxing because they may contain more lubricants than a simple IPA wipe, to be safe.

i did an IPA wipedown after polishing out my car and had no issue with scratching or marrings as long as it was done gently to remove residue and chemicals.

you can use a commercial stripper as desired to remove old wax and sealants. I might not use Acysol or Prepsol again after polishing as quite harsh but you likely could.

You could also mix up a bottle of iso alcohol to water and use it to check polishing results or use the Menzerna Finish Spray which is designed to do the same thing.

can u answer why you would want to use a finishing spray from menzerna, over using a mix of ipa and water though? you could get 5 bottles of ipa mix for 1 bottle of menzerna.
